October Focuses on Bullying Prevention: Centerville Police Share Tips for Awareness

October marks National Bullying Prevention Month, and the Centerville Police Department is leading efforts to raise awareness about bullying in all its forms. With a focus on education and prevention, the department is sharing valuable tips throughout the month to help the community recognize, address, and ultimately prevent bullying.

Bullying can take many shapes, including verbal, social, physical, and cyberbullying, each with unique challenges and impacts. The goal of the campaign is to ensure residents are aware of the warning signs and feel empowered to take action if they or someone they know is being bullied.

By spreading knowledge and promoting open conversations, the Centerville Police hope to create a safer, more inclusive environment for all, encouraging residents to step up and support one another. The department’s initiative includes practical advice for parents, students, and educators on how to handle bullying situations and foster kindness in the community.

This proactive approach emphasizes that bullying prevention is a shared responsibility. The department invites the community to follow their updates, engage and work together to put an end to bullying.

North Salt Lake Youth Council Organizes Fall Clothing Drive

As the seasons change and colder weather approaches, the North Salt Lake Youth City Council (NSLYCC) is encouraging residents to donate gently used or new clothing and winter items to help those in need. The youth-led initiative aims to collect essential items for the community, ensuring that everyone has access to warm clothing as winter draws near.

The clothing drive will take place at City Hall, located at 10 East Center St., North Salt Lake, from October 21 to 24 and October 28 to 29. During these dates, residents can drop off donations, which will go toward supporting families and individuals who may struggle to afford winter essentials. Items requested include coats, jackets, scarves, gloves, and other winter gear, as well as general clothing items for all ages.

This annual event, supported by the city and driven by the NSLYCC, reflects the community's commitment to helping those in need. By participating, locals can clear out their closets and make a meaningful contribution to their neighbors. The youth council thanks everyone in advance for their generosity and hopes to see strong support from the community.

Hogwarts Comes to Life in Clearfield High's Creative Math Contest

Clearfield High School recently hosted a creative math competition that transported students to a magical version of Hogwarts, organized by math teacher Kara Oliverson. Students participated in a sorting ceremony and solved trigonometry problems through themed activities like potions and spells. The event is part of the #RockYourSchool movement, designed to make learning more engaging and enjoyable. Students praised the interactive experience, noting how it made math more fun and memorable.
