Bountiful Residents React to Proposed High-Density Housing Near Life Care Center
Residents in Bountiful are voicing concern over a proposed high-density housing project near the Life Care Center on 2600 South. The grassy lot, though privately owned, is considered by many to be a valuable piece of green space. While some support the housing due to population growth, others are calling for transparency, infrastructure improvements, and preservation of community character. Public meetings are scheduled next week.

Centerville Police Graduate New Citizen Academy Class, Open Registration for February
The Centerville Police Department recently celebrated the graduation of its latest class of Citizen Police Academy participants. This community outreach program offers residents an inside look at the workings of local law enforcement, helping to build stronger relationships between officers and the people they serve.
Graduates completed a series of interactive sessions covering everything from patrol procedures to investigations and use-of-force protocols. The program is designed to promote transparency and mutual understanding, offering participants a deeper appreciation for the challenges and responsibilities of modern policing.
The next session of the Citizen Police Academy is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 25th. Interested residents are encouraged to apply early, as class sizes are limited. Registration is now open at daviscountycpa.org.

Utah Moms Compete in Netflix’s ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’
Two Utah moms, Amber Martinez from Tooele and Tammy Young from Herriman, are among the 456 contestants on Squid Game: The Challenge, Netflix’s high-stakes reality show inspired by the hit drama. Competing for a record-breaking $4.56 million prize, they faced physically and emotionally demanding tasks designed to mirror the intensity of the original series — minus the deadly consequences.
Living among hundreds of players and navigating psychological twists, both women found the experience challenging but deeply rewarding. Their participation adds a local spotlight to a global phenomenon now streaming on Netflix.

🏀 Bountiful Girls Basketball Opens Season with Commanding Victory Over Davis, 45–37
The Bountiful Redhawks launched their new season with a solid performance, defeating Davis 45–37 in a nonregion showdown. After a tight opening, Bountiful surged ahead in the second quarter, outscoring the Darts by 17 points to build a comfortable halftime lead.
Balanced scoring played a key role in the win. Bountiful’s offense was led by a 15-point effort from their top scorer, while a strong outside shooting display helped extend the lead, including three key 3-pointers from another contributor. Davis stayed in the mix behind a matching 15-point performance from one of its standout players, who also sank three shots from deep.
Despite Davis’s efforts to close the gap, Bountiful held firm in the final stretch with a strong defensive stand, securing a 1–0 start to their season.

🧣 Community Cares: Sunday Soup & Blanket Drive Helping Those in Need
Local neighbors are stepping up in a big way through the Sunday Soup and Bountiful Blanket Drive, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake City. Organizer Fox Les is collecting donations of used blankets, coats, gloves, and beanies — with a convenient drop-off box located at Dick’s Market on Orchard Drive.
Food donations are also welcome, including canned goods, noodles, beans, and vegetables, which volunteers use to prepare hot soup handed out every Sunday morning.
Those interested in helping cook, donate, or assist with distribution can reach out to Les directly for details.
As temperatures drop, this grassroots effort is a powerful reminder of Bountiful’s caring spirit and the difference we can make together.

🦃 Annie’s Café Serves Up Kindness This Thanksgiving
The spirit of giving is alive and well at Annie’s Café, where owners Annie and David are opening their doors — and their hearts — to anyone in need of a warm meal and good company this Thanksgiving.
Their free community Thanksgiving dinner will be held Wednesday, November 27 at 3:00 PM at Annie’s Café, featuring all the comforting favorites: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, rolls, and homemade desserts.
Annie shared, “We want everyone to feel cared for and celebrated — families, seniors, young adults — anyone who could use a place to belong this holiday.”
No reservation is needed, but guests are encouraged to call 385-327-3737 so the café can prepare plenty for all.
“It would truly mean a lot to share this moment together as a community,” Annie added. “We’re so thankful for the people who make this town feel like family.”
