Farmington City Begins Construction on Ivy Acres Park 

Farmington City has broken ground on the new Ivy Acres Park, a 10-acre recreational space located on Cook Lane. The park will feature a splash pad, courts for basketball and pickleball, an obstacle course, and a pavilion with lounging areas. A large slide and the unique City Tree sculpture will enhance its appeal. SIRQ Construction was selected to oversee the project, praised for their expertise and proactive approach. Construction is set to begin this winter, with completion expected in September 2025.

Centerville Police Launch Citizen Academy for Community and Businesses 

The Centerville Police Department is inviting community members and local businesses to join the upcoming Davis County Citizen Police Academy. This 15-week program offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about law enforcement operations while strengthening connections between police and the community.

The course will run from Wednesday, February 26, and continue weekly on Wednesdays from 6 PM to 9 PM. For just $25, participants receive engaging instruction and a t-shirt to commemorate their experience. The program has proven to be a valuable team-building activity for local businesses, with employee groups often joining together for a rewarding learning opportunity.

Emergency Plane Landing on I-15 Near Payson Results in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash

On the evening of December 2, 2024, a small aircraft en route from Las Vegas experienced engine failure, compelling the pilot and a student pilot to execute an emergency landing on northbound Interstate 15 near Payson, Utah. While both aviators emerged unscathed, the incident precipitated a multi-vehicle collision, resulting in one fatality and several injuries.

The aircraft touched down near milepost 250 around 8:15 p.m. As vehicles halted behind it, a Dodge pickup truck failed to stop in time, colliding with four other vehicles and the plane itself. This chain reaction led to serious injuries for two individuals, one of whom, identified as 58-year-old Valdecir De Oliveira of Santaquin, later died.

The Utah Highway Patrol diverted traffic for approximately three hours to clear the scene and remove the aircraft, reopening the highway just before 11:30 p.m. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the emergency landing, while state troopers are examining the subsequent vehicular collisions.

🏈 Bountiful Redhawks Capture 5A State Title in Thrilling Finish

The Bountiful Redhawks secured their first state football championship since 2003 by defeating the Roy Royals 42-35. Junior running back Siaki Fekitoa rushed for 255 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winner with 19 seconds left. Quarterback Emerson Geilman added a rushing touchdown and 115 passing yards. The Redhawks' defense made a crucial stop in the final seconds to preserve the win, finishing the season with a 13-1 record.

Bountiful’s Enchanting Holiday Lights Support Local Family in Need

The highly anticipated holiday light display in Bountiful will run nightly from November 29th through the Christmas season, featuring new attractions, a walkthrough option, and a scavenger hunt. Santa will visit on December 14th, offering treats and free photo opportunities. Donations collected during the event will support Tyler Hobert, a local resident battling leukemia, and his family. Visitors can enjoy the display at 1537 N 175 W, Bountiful, UT, with music accessible on 99.3 FM.
