Bountiful Area Residents Gather to Celebrate Patriotism at 'Why I Love America' Event

Bountiful residents came together for an inspiring Why I Love America program, focused on freedom, civic responsibility, and national pride. Organized by local leaders Jen Brown, Susie Becker, and Jennie Taylor, the event featured uplifting presentations that encouraged reflection on what it means to live in a free nation.

Mayor Kendalyn Harris attended and highlighted a key message from the evening—that America is a "choice land" because of the freedoms it offers, and a "promised land" because of the promises its people keep. The event served as a reminder of the importance of gratitude, unity, and active citizenship.

North Salt Lake Refinery Under Federal Scrutiny for Emissions and Water Pollution

Chevron’s North Salt Lake refinery has been listed by the EPA as significantly violating the Clean Air Act for over three years, with high levels of air and water pollutants reported. However, the Utah DEQ has consistently found the refinery in compliance with state regulations. Chevron denies any major violations and cites ongoing investments in cleaner technologies, including the production of Tier 3 fuels. Discrepancies between state and federal assessments have created uncertainty over the refinery’s environmental impact.

Police Investigate Unusual Youth Altercation Involving Removed Shoes

Centerville, UT — A physical altercation involving three juveniles was reported Friday evening near Fire Break Road, prompting a police response.

According to police dispatch information, two boys, estimated to be around 12 years old, engaged in a physical assault on a third juvenile. Witnesses noted that at least one of the assailants removed his shoes before striking the victim in the face. The third juvenile, believed to be about 10 years old, was reportedly present but not involved in the attack.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m., after which the suspects fled the area heading eastbound. The victim remained at the scene and was reportedly speaking with a guardian when authorities arrived.

Officers responding to the call obtained basic descriptions of the suspects, including clothing details such as black shirts and gray Nike shoes. No serious injuries or arrests were reported at the time, and the investigation is ongoing.

🏈 Viewmont Stays Perfect After Dominant Win Over Ben Lomond

Viewmont High improved to 3-0 with a decisive 34-15 road win over Ben Lomond. A dominant first quarter, featuring two defensive touchdowns and a strong rushing performance from Nate Stone, gave the Vikings early control. The defense held strong, and special teams remained consistent as Viewmont maintained their perfect season heading into next week’s home game against Hillcrest.
