🎨 Trail to Canvas Hike in Mueller Park

The Bountiful Davis Art Center is hosting a family-friendly “Plein Air Hike – Trail to Canvas” on May 30 in Mueller Park Canyon. Residents can take an easy hike along Kenny Creek Trail and watch local artists paint Bountiful’s canyon scenery in real time as part of the upcoming Plein Air Exhibition and the city’s “Red, White, and Move!” activities. Event runs from 10 AM to noon and is open to the public.

It’s a fun, free way for South Davis families to enjoy Mueller Park while supporting local artists and community events. 👉 See Post

🕊️ Search & Rescue Team Honors “Chappy”

The Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team announced the passing of longtime volunteer Jason “Chappy” Chapman after his battle with cancer. Chappy served with the team for more than 20 years, mentoring new members, responding to emergencies, and becoming known for both his preparedness and sense of humor. Team members honored him with a memorial hike to Flag Rock this Memorial Day weekend. Chappy’s decades of service left a lasting impact on emergency response efforts and the Search and Rescue community across Davis County.

🇺🇸 Bountiful’s Memorial Day Ceremony Inspires Ukrainian Leader

During Bountiful’s Memorial Day program at Veterans Park, Mayor Kate Bradshaw shared the story of Ukrainian Military Administration Mayor Andrii Seletsky and his February visit to the city. Bradshaw said Seletsky was deeply moved by the community’s traditions honoring veterans and those lost in service. The visit sparked ideas for creating similar spaces of remembrance in his war-affected hometown of Novovorontsovka, Ukraine.

Bountiful’s local traditions and community values are resonating far beyond Davis County, offering a meaningful example of remembrance and unity during a time of global conflict.

🐢 Davis County Shelter Looking for Home for Rescue Turtle

Animal Care of Davis County is searching for a new home — or reptile rescue — for “Ringo,” a red-eared slider turtle currently in the shelter’s care. Staff say the turtle would thrive with an experienced reptile owner who can provide the right pond or habitat setup, complete with proper basking space and care. The shelter shared the post hoping to connect Ringo with someone ready for a unique pet companion.

Local shelters are caring for more than just cats and dogs, and finding specialized homes helps ensure animals like Ringo get the long-term care they need.

Slow Down the Sniff Walk 🐶🌿

Not every walk has to be about distance or speed. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your dog is simply slow down and let them sniff.

Sniffing is mental enrichment for dogs. It helps:

• Mentally tire dogs out

🎭 Woods Cross High Theater Camp Returns This Summer! June 8–11

The Woods Cross High School Theater Department is hosting a “Heroes & Villains” themed theater camp for incoming 1st–9th graders. Kids will enjoy theater games, songs, and scenes while building confidence and creativity. Cost is $60 and includes a camp t-shirt. Register by May 19 to guarantee a spot and shirt.

Free summer lunches for all kids 18 & under will be available June 1 – July 23 at select Davis School District schools — including Adelaide Elementary and Meadowbrook Elementary in Bountiful, and Centerville Elementary in Centerville. Meals are served Monday–Thursday from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM with no registration or income requirements needed.
