Centerville’s Ben Kjar Shines in Inspiring New Utah Documentary

A new Utah-made documentary is touring theaters across the state, highlighting the inspiring journey of Centerville native Ben Kjar.

Standout: The Ben Kjar Story, directed by Tanner Christensen and produced by T.C. Christensen, follows Kjar’s life as he overcomes the challenges of being born with Crouzon syndrome. Despite early struggles with medical issues and bullying, he went on to become a state wrestling champion, NCAA All-American, and world champion.

Kjar and the filmmakers are appearing at select screenings for post-film Q&A sessions, giving audiences a deeper connection to the story.

Details on upcoming screenings and Q&A events — including dates and locations are included in the full story full story on The Bountiful Forum by Tyler Nelson.

Utah School Bus Drivers Alarmed by Rise in Illegal Passes During Student Pickups

A Weber School District bus driver reports frequent instances of drivers illegally passing stopped school buses, despite flashing red lights and extended stop signs. Over 900 such violations occurred statewide in a single day in 2023. Utah law requires vehicles to stop for school buses unless there's a physical barrier. Authorities are pushing for greater enforcement and awareness to keep students safe.

Boys Basketball 🏀 Late Push Lifts Bountiful Over Woods Cross 40-37

In a closely contested Region 6 matchup, Bountiful High pulled off a narrow 40-37 win over rival Woods Cross, thanks to a decisive fourth-quarter performance. Trailing earlier in the game, Bountiful surged ahead with a 13-point final quarter to seal the victory.

Key contributions came from Lincoln Smith and Davey Howe, who each added 11 points to lead Bountiful’s balanced offensive effort. The team’s late-game push proved critical in overcoming Woods Cross's strong defensive showing.

Woods Cross kept the game tight throughout, led by Nate Smith-Mecham with nine points. Bryson Watson and Madden Johnsen chipped in eight points apiece, keeping their team within striking distance until the final minutes.

The win strengthens Bountiful’s position in the Region 6 standings as the regular season intensifies.
