Farmington Encourages Residents to Get Creative for Spooky Yard Tour

As the autumn leaves start to change and cooler temperatures settle in, Farmington Parks & Recreation is inviting residents to embrace the Halloween spirit with their annual Spooky Yard Tour. The community event encourages participants to transform their yards into haunting displays, featuring everything from eerie figures and cobweb-covered trees to glowing jack-o’-lanterns.

Residents can register their outdoor Halloween setups to be part of the city's celebration, showcasing their creativity and festive spirit to neighbors and visitors. To join in, participants can sign up through a registration link or scan a QR code provided by Farmington Parks & Recreation.Gift card scams are affecting many consumers, with scammers draining card balances before legitimate use. Joel and Marie Gurr of Utah fell victim to this scheme multiple times after purchasing gift cards that were tampered with at a local store. Efforts to get refunds from the store and retailers proved challenging. Experts say these scams are common due to inadequate consumer protections and suggest using sealed packaging or digital alternatives. Some states are enacting stricter regulations to tackle the issue, but more comprehensive solutions are needed.

West Bountiful Fall Concert Series Begins with Heartwarming Cowboy Poetry

The West Bountiful Arts Council is set to bring the spirit of the Old West to life with its upcoming Fall Concert Series event. On Friday, October 11, at 7:00 pm, West Bountiful City Hall will host an evening of Cowboy Poetry. Attendees can look forward to an entertaining blend of music, poetry, and storytelling that captures the essence of cowboy culture.

Local performers Mike Murphy, Kim McKean, Pat Soper, Von Hill, and Eric Eastman will share their talents, offering a heartwarming and lively night for all ages. This event promises to be a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy some old-fashioned Western fun.

Looking ahead, the series continues on November 8 with Suzie Carter's holiday-themed performance, "It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas."

🏒 Hockey 101: Utah Club Players Help Fans Prepare for Their First Game Experience

Ahead of their inaugural game against the Chicago Blackhawks, Utah Hockey Club players shared insights to help new fans appreciate the sport. They advised focusing on the game as a whole rather than specific players initially, though key players like Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz were suggested for close watching. The team's style emphasizes speed, possession, and strategic forechecking, with a balanced defensive approach. Despite a challenging season outlook, fans are encouraged to enjoy the fast-paced action and learn the nuances over time.
