Davis County Leads the Way in Vote-by-Mail Success for a Decade
Davis County recently celebrated a decade of conducting vote-by-mail elections with a resolution at the County Commission meeting. The journey began with restrictive mail voting, evolving to more inclusive practices over the years, significantly increasing voter participation. The state of Utah saw notable changes in 2012, with Duchesne County pioneering full vote-by-mail elections and political parties encouraging this method. By 2014, Davis County conducted its primary election by mail, leading to increased voter engagement and setting a precedent for other cities and counties. The 2020 national shift towards vote-by-mail found Utah well-prepared, with Davis County highlighting the success of providing multiple voting methods to boost election engagement.

Local Organizations Unite to Support Latino Family Night at Wasatch Elementary
In a spirited display of community unity and support, Wasatch Elementary School recently hosted its Latino Family Night, an event marked by the collective efforts of numerous local entities. This special evening served as a vibrant platform for families to discover a wealth of resources and support services designed to enhance their community life. Key participants included the Clearfield Teen Center, the Falcon Food Resource Community, North Davis Communities that Care, the Davis County Health Department, Head Start, among others. Through their involvement, these organizations presented an array of valuable information and assistance, aimed at enriching the local community's experience and strengthening familial bonds.
Bountiful Library to Offer Critical Lifesaving Skills Through Suicide Prevention Workshop
The Bountiful Library is set to host a vital event aimed at fostering awareness and providing training in suicide prevention. Jessica Gehring, a specialist from Davis County Health, will lead a QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) Suicide Prevention Workshop. Scheduled for Tomorrow, March 9, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, this session is designed to equip participants with the knowledge to recognize the signs that someone may be contemplating suicide, engage in meaningful dialogue to assess the situation, and effectively guide them towards getting professional help. The workshop will debunk common myths surrounding suicide, highlight warning signs, and detail local resources available for support. This event, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in addressing mental health issues, is open to teens and adults seeking to make a difference.
