Located at 545 W 500 S, Suite 130 in Bountiful, this premier martial arts academy brings elite-level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction to kids and adults alike. Co-owner Stephen Spanos and a team of internationally recognized black belt professors—including multiple IBJJF world champions—set out to create something rare in northern Utah: a place where students of all ages could train at the highest level while feeling like part of a family.
What Makes Them Stand Out
Alliance isn’t just another martial arts gym. They offer:
World-Class Instructors – Train directly under award-winning black belts with decades of experience.
State-of-the-Art Facility – With a sprung floor, over 3,000 sq. ft. of mat space, sauna, showers, and a modern design, safety and comfort come first.
Programs for All Ages – From “Baby Eagles” (ages 3–5) to adults with busy schedules, there’s a class for everyone.
Complete Training – Students learn gi, no-gi, and standup Jiu Jitsu for a well-rounded skillset.
Supportive Community – Alliance is built on respect, discipline, and connection. Families often train together, and kids learn confidence, resilience, and anti-bullying skills.
More Than Martial Arts
Alliance Jiu Jitsu Bountiful is deeply committed to giving back. They’re an approved Utah Education Fits All provider, making it possible for more kids to train regardless of financial barriers. They sponsor youth athletes, host tournaments, and create a safe, empowering environment for everyone who walks through their doors.

Final Friday Festival Features Spooky Headless Horseman Carriage Ride in Kaysville
As the fall air settles in, Kaysville is wrapping up its 2025 Friday Festival series with a seasonal twist. Tonight, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., visitors can experience a unique ride through town — led by none other than the legendary Headless Horseman.
Offered by The Carriage Establishment, this spooky-themed horse-drawn carriage ride is a highlight of the evening’s festivities. Rides are priced at $25 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, adding a dash of urgency to an already thrilling attraction.
The Headless Horseman ride marks the final night of the Friday Festival series, which has brought food, fun, and local flavor to the streets of Kaysville all season long. Families, thrill-seekers, and Halloween lovers alike are invited to enjoy one last memorable evening before the event signs off for the year.

North Salt Lake Residents Push Back on Nearby Homeless Shelter Plan
North Salt Lake residents packed a public meeting to express concerns over a proposed 1,300-bed homeless shelter campus planned just over the city border in Salt Lake City. State officials emphasized the need for such a facility due to rising homelessness and assured the community of strong safety measures. However, residents voiced fears about crime, safety, and the shelter’s impact on nearby schools and homes. Further meetings and public input opportunities are planned as the project moves forward pending legislative approval.

Government Shutdown Slows Mortgage Approvals, Shakes Buyer Confidence
The federal government shutdown is causing delays in mortgage processing and creating uncertainty for homebuyers, especially those relying on federally backed loans or income verification from the IRS. While some buyers are pausing their plans due to the political standoff, builders and lenders are offering incentives to keep the market moving. However, the longer the shutdown continues, the more significant the disruption to the housing market could become.

⚽️ Viewmont Shuts Out Skyline for Region 6 Victory
Viewmont earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Skyline in a Region 6 matchup, thanks to a decisive second-half goal that sealed the win. The breakthrough came when Raegan Rast found the back of the net, capitalizing on a well-placed assist from teammate Annie Layton. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Susan Lamb kept Skyline off the scoreboard, securing a clean sheet for Viewmont. With this result, Viewmont improved their season record to 4-12, while Skyline continues to struggle, slipping to 1-15.
