Quick Response to Student Behavior Leads to Temporary Lockdown at Syracuse High
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Syracuse High School in Utah experienced a brief lockdown due to an incident involving an unruly student. The lockdown commenced at 10:04 a.m. and was lifted at 10:13 a.m., lasting a total of nine minutes. Authorities confirmed that no weapons were involved, and the measure was taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students and staff. Following the incident, the school resumed normal operations, and the Syracuse City Police Department expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation during the event.

Police Investigating Fan Incident as Utah Athletic Director Is Penalized
Following a heated rivalry football game between Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, an incident involving fan misconduct is under police investigation. Allegedly, a water bottle thrown by a Utah fan struck BYU's head cheerleading coach, resulting in injuries. This comes amid criticism from Utah's Athletic Director Mark Harlan about officiating, for which he received a $40,000 fine and public reprimand from the Big 12 Conference. Efforts to promote sportsmanship, such as the "Rival Right" initiative, are being questioned. The investigation is ongoing.

Bountiful High Dominates Region 5, Eyes 5A State Volleyball Title

Senior Taylor Harvey earned MVP honors, while multiple teammates received regional accolades. The team faces the winner of Wasatch and Viewmont in the quarterfinals. Woods Cross, finishing second, and other regional teams like Viewmont and Farmington also prepare for their state tournament runs.

Add a touch of autumn to your dinner table with this savory and sweet Apple Cider Glazed Chicken. Juicy, tender chicken coated with a delicious apple cider glaze—perfect for a cozy evening meal!
📝 Ingredients:
- 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
- 1 cup apple cider
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, pepper, and thyme to taste
🍗 Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Season chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and thyme.
3. In a small saucepan, combine apple cider, mustard, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and garlic. Simmer until reduced by half to create a glaze.
4. In a hot skillet, sear the chicken thighs skin-side down until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
5. Brush the glaze generously over the chicken and transfer to the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, basting with more glaze halfway through.
6. Serve hot and enjoy!
💡 Tip: Pair with roasted root vegetables or a simple side salad for a balanced meal.
