From Service to Startups: Veterans Apply Military Skills in Business

Veterans are effectively applying their military skills to launch and manage small businesses, though they often face financial challenges due to limited credit histories. Support from organizations like the SBA and various nonprofits provides essential resources, including certifications, loans, and mentorship. In Utah, a veteran-owned business registry has been created to encourage community support. Success stories highlight the resilience and adaptability veterans bring to entrepreneurship.

Water Bottle Incident at Rivalry Game Leads to Arrest of Teen

An 18-year-old was arrested after allegedly hitting BYU’s cheer coach Jocelyn Allan with a water bottle during a rivalry football game at the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium. Allan, who leads the Cougars' cheer squads, reported briefly losing consciousness when struck by an object from a nearby fan area. The suspect, William Gardner, was booked on a misdemeanor assault charge and is not a University of Utah student. The incident is under investigation by university police, who are examining video evidence from the game.
