Davis County Proposes Tax Increase to Support New Animal Care Facility
Davis County Animal Care has proposed a 57.02% tax increase to fund the operations of a new, larger facility. The increase would raise annual taxes on a $578,000 home by approximately $12.87. The construction cost is already covered without additional taxpayer burden. The proposal aims to enhance services, though public opinion remains divided.

Leeβs Marketplace Employee Brightens Day for Local Elderly Resident
Kaylee, a grocery clerk from the Lee's Marketplace in North Salt Lake, had a heartwarming experience recently when she joined her choir group to perform at a local assisted living facility. The choir's music filled the room with holiday cheer, touching the hearts of the residents.
After the performance, Kaylee took time to sit and converse with some of the residents, including a woman who shared a deeply personal wish. The elderly woman revealed that her only Christmas wish was for her family to visit, as she rarely sees them. Despite this longing, she expressed how much joy the choir's music brought to her day, brightening her holiday season in a small yet meaningful way.
This story serves as a poignant reminder of the power of small acts of kindness. During this festive season, taking moments to connect with others can have a lasting impact. Letβs carry this spirit forward and spread joy wherever we can.

π Bountiful and Farmington Secure Wins; Viewmont Strives for Improvement
Farmington High School
The Phoenix overcame a four-game losing streak by securing their first win on December 6, defeating Bonneville 65-51. The team excelled from beyond the arc, sinking 14 three-pointers, with Malakai Tobler contributing five and leading the team with 19 points. Brycen Rudolph added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Farmington is set to participate in the Skyridge Tournament, facing Herriman and another yet-to-be-determined opponent.
Bountiful High School
The Redhawks engaged in three consecutive games from December 5-7, achieving a 2-1 record to bring their season tally to 3-2. They opened with a 74-63 win over Crimson Cliffs, led by Charlie Smith's 20 points and six rebounds. A subsequent 70-60 loss to Riverton saw Bryson Heath score 19 points. Bountiful bounced back with a 61-52 victory against Dixie, with Emerson Geilman contributing 18 points and six rebounds. The team is preparing to host Springville in their next matchup.
Viewmont High School
The Vikings, currently at 2-3, faced two defeats last week against Weber and Layton Christian. In the December 6 game against Weber, Viewmont trailed early but narrowed the gap, ultimately falling 59-54. The team aims to regroup and improve their performance in upcoming games.
As non-region play continues, these teams are honing their skills and strategies in preparation for the competitive region contests that await in the new year.
