Utah Second Graders Smash World Record with Mile-Long Cube Chain

In an awe-inspiring demonstration of teamwork and strategy, a second-grade class at Hannah Holbrook Elementary School, guided by Mrs. Hullinger, has set a new world record for the longest line of Unifix cubes assembled within a single class period. These young students, utilizing the principles of Project-Based Learning (PBL), successfully aligned 92,225 cubes to form a continuous line in just 55 minutes, surpassing the previous world record.

The event took place under the enthusiastic oversight of Mrs. Hullinger, who has been instrumental in harnessing the dedication and meticulousness of her students. This achievement not only highlights the students' ability to collaborate effectively but also underscores the educational values of persistence and meticulous planning. The Hannah Holbrook Elementary community and the Davis School District celebrated this monumental achievement, marking a significant milestone in educational and team-building endeavors.

Hill Aerospace Museum’s New Hangar to Open, Offering Free Admission

The Hill Aerospace Museum is set to unveil a significant new addition with the opening of a 91,000 square-foot hangar. This expansion enhances the museum’s capacity to showcase and protect its aircraft collection, including a U-2 Dragon Lady and an F-22 Raptor, among more than a dozen others that were previously displayed outdoors. The hangar, which opens to the public for free on May 2nd, represents a $22 million investment and years of planning supported by federal, state, and private funding. The new space also allows the museum to better tell the stories of airmen through various exhibits, including pressure suits and uniforms.

Utah Trails Behind All States in Retirement Savings, Study Finds

A recent study reveals that Utah ranks at the bottom nationwide for retirement savings. This report highlights the state's alarming position in terms of the accumulation of funds in critical retirement accounts including 401(k)s, IRAs, and Roth IRAs. The findings suggest a significant concern regarding the financial future and preparedness of Utah residents, emphasizing the need for enhanced financial planning and education strategies within the state.

Utah's NHL Team to Be Named by Fans in March Madness-Style Vote

The new NHL team in Utah will have its name chosen through a unique fan-engagement initiative, employing a March Madness-style bracket voting system. The process, announced by team owner Ryan Smith, will start with eight potential names and narrow down to one as fans vote on their favorites. Several names have been trademarked, including Utah Blizzard, Utah Venom, and Utah Yetis, among others. The approach aims to strengthen community involvement and connection with the team, which has already seen a promising start with 27,000 deposits for season tickets.
