๐Ÿšธ Bountiful Police Remind Everyone to Stay Alert at Crosswalks This Summer

Bountiful Police are encouraging both drivers and pedestrians to brush up on road safety as summer activity picks up across the city. Motor officers have noticed several instances of people crossing streets outside designated areas or not following posted signs. The department is asking everyoneโ€”whether on foot, a bike, scooter, or behind the wheelโ€”to stay aware and follow the rules of the road.

With more families, kids, and visitors out enjoying summer, a little extra attention at crosswalks and intersections can help prevent accidents and keep Bountiful streets safe for everyone.

"Thanks to our local officers for helping keep Bountiful a safe place to live, work, and enjoy the summer season."

The Great Flock Camera Debate

Apparently, nothing fires up a local comment section quite like a few cameras on the side of the road.

This week's neighborhood debate centered on Flock license plate cameras popping up around Bountiful, with opinions ranging from "Big Brother is watching" to "Your phone already knows more about you than the government ever will."One resident warned about mass surveillance, while another pointed out that most of us voluntarily carry tracking devices, use loyalty cards, and post our lunch online.

The comment of the day might belong to the neighbor who joked, "I'm sure the government is absolutely fascinated by my daily loop between Starbucks, Smith's, McDonald's, and my semi-annual trip to the gym." Another simply summed it up with, "What the flock?"

Love them or hate them, one thing everyone agreed on: if you're looking to completely disappear from modern surveillance, you may need to ditch the smartphone, pay cash for everything, write encrypted letters, and move to a cabin somewhere off-grid.

Until then, we'll see you at Smith's... where at least three cameras, your rewards account, and half your neighbors already know you're buying Diet Coke and hamburger buns. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ“น

Buzz Question of the Day: What do you think? Are Flock cameras a helpful tool for public safety, or a step too far when it comes to privacy? Hit reply and let us knowโ€”we may feature a few reader responses in a future edition of the Buzz.

โš ๏ธ Pole Fire Knocks Out Power in West Point

A pole fire in West Point left 2,619 Rocky Mountain Power customers without electricity Monday morning. Two separate outages were reported between 7:40 and 8:28 a.m., with crews completing emergency repairs and restoring power by around 11 a.m. Officials initially estimated service would return before 2 p.m.

While this happened outside the Bountiful Buzz coverage area, outages like this can affect regional commutes, utility operations, and emergency response resources across Davis County. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Read More
