Wasatch Peak Academy Hosts Veterans' 5K: A Race to Honor Heroes
In a heartfelt gesture of support and remembrance, Wasatch Peak Academy is hosting a family-friendly Veterans' 5K, extending an open invitation to the community to honor the sacrifices made by veterans for the nation. The event, designed to be inclusive for all ages and abilities, encourages participation in various formsβbe it running, walking, or using wheels like scooters, bikes, and wheelchairs.
This year, the academy's students have dedicated their service learning project to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a veterans support organization committed to honoring and empowering wounded warriors. By focusing on mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with advocacy efforts, the Wounded Warrior Project aims to improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.
In recognition of their service, all veterans are invited to join the event free of charge, using the code THANKS24 at checkout. The event fee structure is designed to be family-friendly, with special rates for students, adults, and immediate families, both for early registration through March 22nd and for those registering on the day of the event on March 23rd. Notably, the event fee is waived for children aged 0-4 when accompanied by a paid adult.
The schedule promises an engaging morning, beginning with check-in and day-of registration from 7:30 to 8:00 AM, followed by the wheel race at 9:00 AM and the run/walk race at 9:05 AM. The event will culminate in an awards ceremony at 10:15 AM, celebrating the participants' achievements and contributions to the veterans' cause.

Investigation Underway After Deadly Duplex Explosion in American Fork
In the quiet hours of an early Wednesday morning, tragedy struck an American Fork senior living community when a duplex exploded, resulting in the death of one woman and minor injuries to another. The blast, occurring just before dawn, not only claimed a life but also sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, causing property damage and panic among the residents. Authorities are diligently investigating to determine the cause of the explosion, amidst concerns over recent utility work in the area. This incident has left the community in mourning and seeking answers to prevent such a disaster from happening again.
Desert Mystery Unraveled: Arrests Made in the Case of Missing Utah Man
A shocking case has emerged involving two juveniles arrested for the kidnapping and murder of 21-year-old Alexzia "Alex" Franco, whose body was found in a desolate desert area with a gunshot wound. Franco was last seen getting into a Jeep Liberty, a vehicle he entered voluntarily, likely due to his acquaintance with at least one of the suspects. Reports suggest a third individual might have been in the car during the tragic incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation into this grave matter.
