Quick Police Action Thwarts Potential Threat at Farmington High
On the morning of April 16, 2024, Farmington High School in Utah became the scene of a police intervention after two masked individuals were reported acting suspiciously on the premises. The incident, which was quickly contained by police, led to no disruptions in school activities, with officials confirming the absence of any direct threats to student safety. Authorities are currently determining appropriate actions for the juveniles in consultation with school district officials.

Step Back in Time: Bountiful High's 'Fools for Jazz' Night Celebrates the 1940s
Bountiful High School is bringing the glamour of the 1940s back to life with its upcoming "Fools for Jazz" event. Set in the school's old gym, transformed into a dance hall reminiscent of the era, this event promises an evening filled with swing dancing, 1940s costume contests, and delightful live jazz performances by multiple school ensembles. Scheduled for April 19th at 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, attendees are encouraged to don their best 40s attire and join in the festivities.
In addition to the musical and dance performances, food and merchandise will be available for purchase. Attendees can buy tickets specifically for concessions, ensuring they can enjoy a variety of treats throughout the evening. The school also welcomes donations to its band program, contributing to the ongoing support of music education at Bountiful High.

Utah's Great Shakeout Drill Prepares Over 900,000 for Earthquake Safety
In Utah, the annual Great Utah Shakeout drill prepares residents for potential earthquakes by teaching safety procedures. In 2023, over 900,000 Utahns participated, including numerous schools. Wade Mathews from the Division of Emergency Management emphasized the importance of staying put, taking cover, and holding on during a quake. The state continues to prioritize preparedness, encouraging households to maintain emergency supplies and secure their homes against potential quake damage. The drill reflects ongoing efforts to educate and prepare Utahns for earthquake risks.

Students at Bountiful Elementary Lead by Example in Kindness Challenge
Throughout March, students at Bountiful Elementary in the Davis School District participated in a transformative initiative called the One Kind Act a Day challenge. The campaign aimed to cultivate a culture of kindness and empathy among students through daily gestures of goodwill.
The halls of Bountiful Elementary buzzed with positivity as students engaged in acts of kindness ranging from cleaning classrooms to holding doors open for others. Each act was meticulously recorded on calendars, providing a tangible track record of the studentsβ compassionate efforts.
The month-long challenge culminated in a touching assembly where students received recognition for their dedication to spreading kindness. Awards were given for the most impactful essays and posters, highlighting the studentsβ creativity and empathetic spirit. The event's pinnacle was the announcement that the students collectively performed over 11,000 acts of kindness.
Mason Bennett, representing the One Kind Act A Day initiative, honored Bountiful Elementary as a Certified School of Kindness. This recognition serves as a beacon of their outstanding commitment to making a positive impact, inspiring a continued ripple effect of kindness.
