🌟 Local Spotlight:
South Davis County Parish Neighbors
In an era when so much media feels distant or impersonal, South Davis County Parish Neighbors is bringing community connection back to print. This Christian-neutral local magazine highlights the people, families, and businesses that make our area special—offering uplifting articles, family spotlights, and a community calendar designed to celebrate local life.

Publisher Harris Moriarty and his wife were inspired to start the magazine after realizing how many good families were missing out on meaningful community updates shared only during Sunday announcements. “We wanted a way to help local Christian families and local businesses connect more deeply,” Harris explained.
With a growing readership of around 2,500, the magazine is intentionally designed to serve—not overwhelm—its readers. Each issue balances inspiring stories with tasteful sponsor placements that give local businesses visibility without crowding the content. It’s a refreshing alternative to ad-heavy publications, providing both substance and style for those who love their hometown.
As a true community-building project, Parish Neighbors helps raise awareness of local initiatives and events through its pages and calendar. The team hopes to bring the publication fully to print at the start of the new year—with the support of quality sponsors who share their vision of connecting faith, family, and local commerce.

Emilia Larsen to Represent Farmington in Mrs. Utah Pageant
Emilia Larsen has been selected as this year’s Mrs. Farmington, representing the city in the upcoming Mrs. Utah/America pageant. Her nomination highlights a commitment to community involvement and personal growth, qualities celebrated by the national competition.
As a contestant, Larsen will now compete for the chance to represent Utah in the 2026 Mrs. America pageant. Her official contestant page, “Mrs. America Pageant Utah Contestant – Mrs. Farmington,” offers updates and ways the community can support her.
Larsen’s achievement reflects both personal dedication and the pride of Farmington, as she steps into the statewide spotlight.

North Salt Lake Police Seek Vandal Behind Golf Course Destruction
Authorities in North Salt Lake are searching for the person responsible for causing $20,000 in damage to the Eaglewood Golf Course. According to officials, the course sustained significant harm recently, prompting an ongoing investigation.
The vandalism, which reportedly disrupted operations and left several areas of the course in disrepair, has alarmed both city officials and community members. As a response, the North Salt Lake City Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
Investigators are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. The public can submit tips anonymously to assist in identifying the suspect responsible for the costly damage.

Daylight Saving Time Ends Soon in Utah
Utahns will turn their clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 3 at 2 a.m., marking the end of daylight saving time and the return to standard time. This biannual change means earlier sunrises and sunsets heading into winter.
Although Utah passed a 2020 law to stay on daylight saving time permanently, the change can't take effect without congressional approval and support from surrounding states. Federal law currently allows states to opt out of daylight saving time entirely but does not allow year-round observance without a change to national legislation.
While some argue permanent daylight saving time could benefit health and safety, others raise concerns about darker mornings. Until federal law changes, Utah will continue to adjust its clocks each spring and fall.

🏐 Wildcats Overcome Skyline in Five-Set Thriller to Claim First Title Since 1979
Woods Cross High School capped off a historic season with a thrilling five-set victory over Region 6 rival Skyline to win the 5A girls volleyball state championship—its first since 1979.
The Wildcats dominated the opening two sets with strong performances from outside hitters Sitoafa Tausinga and Avery Poulton, as well as middle blocker Alisi Tapaatoutai. But Skyline stormed back in the third and fourth sets, tying the match and forcing a decisive fifth after a crucial out-of-bounds hit by Tausinga, who was playing through a bruised heel.
Refusing to let the moment slip, Woods Cross came out aggressive in the final set, quickly building a 9-1 lead behind key plays from Sarah Robison, Tapaatoutai, and Poulton. Tausinga, shaking off earlier mistakes, delivered the championship-winning kill—her 15th of the night—to seal the 3-2 victory.
Poulton, a Kansas commit, led all players with 24 kills and 16 digs, while Tausinga added 18 digs of her own. The win snapped a 46-year championship drought and highlighted the team’s resilience and determination to finish strong.
