Making Science Fun Across the Wasatch Front with Mad Science of Greater Salt Lake
If youโve ever watched a childโs eyes light up during a science experiment, you already understand the magic behind Mad Science of Greater Salt Lake. For the past 18 years, this family-owned business has been helping kids throughout the Wasatch Front discover that science isnโt just educational โ itโs exciting, interactive, and downright fun.
Owned by Laurie Larsen, Mad Science of Greater Salt Lake brings hands-on science experiences directly to schools, camps, birthday parties, workshops, assemblies, and community programs. From bubbling experiments and smoky science tricks to secret agent missions and underground explorations, their programs are designed to spark curiosity and make learning unforgettable for elementary-aged children.
Science has always been a natural fit for Laurie, who purchased the existing business from another Davis County resident years ago. Since then, itโs truly become a family affair โ with all five of her children having worked in the business over the years.

What makes Mad Science stand out is their ability to turn learning into an adventure. Their team travels throughout the community bringing engaging science experiences directly to local schools, organizations, and events. Whether itโs an after-school program, a summer camp, or a birthday celebration, their goal is simple: make science something kids canโt wait to explore.
Beyond the fun experiments and exciting demonstrations, Mad Science is also committed to giving back. They offer limited scholarships for low-income families participating in camps and after-school programs and proudly partner with organizations like Neighborhood House and Montessori Discovery Academy.
This summer, local families can look forward to two exciting science camps happening at Montessori Discovery Academy in Bountiful:
๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ Secret Agent Lab | June 8โ11 | 9:00โ10:30 AM
๐ Underground Explorers | July 6โ9 | 9:00โ10:30 AM
Both camps are designed for Pre-K through 3rd grade students and cost $120.
If your child loves experimenting, discovering, and getting hands-on with science, Mad Science of Greater Salt Lake may just be the perfect summer adventure.

๐บ๐ธ Help Honor Local Veterans
Volunteers are needed this week to help place American flags on more than 2,000 veteransโ graves at the Bountiful Cemetery ahead of Memorial Day. The community effort runs May 20โ22 and organizers say itโs simple, meaningful, and family-friendly โ even kids can help. Itโs a hands-on way for local families to honor veterans and keep Memorial Day traditions alive in the community.

๐ ๏ธ Centerville Cheers Public Works Crew
Centerville City is giving a shoutout to the Public Works crews who keep the community running year-round โ from early morning maintenance to emergency response calls. City leaders thanked the teams for the behind-the-scenes work that helps keep roads, utilities, and public spaces safe and clean. These crews play a major role in keeping daily life moving smoothly for Centerville residents, especially during storms, repairs, and city emergencies.

Hummingbird Surprise
A Beaver couple woke up to an unexpected sight after Mondayโs snowstorm โ more than 50 hummingbirds crowding around their backyard feeders. David and Charlotte Rubinger said the birds gathered in huge numbers as snow blanketed their yard and the nearby mountains.
Utahโs spring weather swings can create tough conditions for migrating wildlife, and backyard feeders can become a lifeline during late snowstorms. ๐ Read More

โฝ Bountiful Boys Soccer Storms Into State Championship
In one of the biggest wins of the season, No. 5 Bountiful erased a 2-0 halftime deficit to stun top-seeded Alta 3-2 in Mondayโs 5A semifinal. Ezra Christiansen started the comeback, Pim DeJonge tied it minutes later, and Sammy Serio delivered the game-winning penalty kick to send the Redhawks to the state title game. Bountiful will now play for its first boys soccer championship since 2013. ๐ Letโs Go!

Your Dog Notices the Little Things ๐ถ
Dogs may not tell us when something feels โoff,โ but they often show it in small ways โ extra scratching, licking paws, avoiding brushing, trouble settling down, or even just seeming less comfortable than usual.
Sometimes those little signs can be connected to buildup in the coat, overgrown nails, dirty ears, or seasonal irritation that slowly sneaks up over time.
Thatโs why routine hygiene care matters. Keeping dogs clean and comfortable isnโt just about appearance โ it can help them feel more relaxed, active, and happy day to day.
At Scenthound Bountiful, the focus is on helping dogs feel their best through routine wellness-focused care designed to support comfort year-round.
