Local Bus Stops Provide Lifeline to Warming Centers During Freezing Nights
As winter settles in, Davis County has implemented a plan to support residents without shelter during dangerously cold nights. The initiative includes bus stops in key locations like Farmington and Bountiful, offering free rides to warming centers where individuals can stay overnight in safety and warmth.
When a Code Blue is declared—triggered by temperatures dropping below 18°F, including wind chill—designated buses will run to warming shelters. These shelters are open nightly from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM, ensuring those in need can escape the cold.
Bus Stop Schedule Near You:
Farmington: 8:05 PM, Farmington Frontrunner Station (450 North Hampton Court)
Bountiful: 8:30 PM, Gateway Crossing (325 South 500 West)
Buses transport riders to one of three warming centers located in Kaysville, Clearfield, or Layton, based on availability. Each shelter provides cots, bathrooms, and a warm environment. Guests must remain at the shelter until 7:00 AM.
What Local Residents Should Know:
Families in Need: Non-congregate family rooms are available for families with children under 18. Contact Open Doors at 385-320-9043 for assistance.
Pet-Friendly Options: Some shelters may allow pets, so no one has to leave their furry companions behind.
Code Blue Alerts: Keep an eye out for announcements during severe cold snaps, which will activate this service.
By providing local bus stops and rotating warming centers, Davis County ensures that individuals in Farmington, Bountiful, and nearby areas have access to lifesaving shelter during the harshest winter nights.
For more details, visit the Davis County website or contact your local city offices

Community Connection Shines at Centerville’s Cops and Kids Celebration
Residents of Centerville might have noticed an early wake-up call at 8:00 AM, as sirens rang out along Main Street and Parrish Lane. But this was no emergency—it was a celebration of community and giving back.
The Centerville Police Department joined forces with law enforcement agencies across Davis County for the annual Davis County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Cops and Kids event, a heartwarming tradition that pairs officers with children from the community for a morning of festive fun.
Seventy-five local kids were treated to breakfast at West Bountiful’s Texas Roadhouse, followed by a shopping spree at Walmart, where they met Santa Claus and other holiday characters. The event fosters a sense of connection between law enforcement and the community while brightening the holidays for families in need.
A special thank-you goes out to Centerville Walmart and Texas Roadhouse in West Bountiful for sponsoring and hosting this memorable event. The Centerville Police Department expressed gratitude to the entire community, calling it the best place to serve and protect.

CenterPoint Theatre Revives 1940s Charm with 'It's a Wonderful Life' Radio Play
CenterPoint Theatre in Centerville is delighting audiences with a nostalgic production of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. This unique adaptation transports viewers to a 1940s radio studio, where a talented cast of six brings the beloved story of George Bailey and his guardian angel, Clarence, to life. Complete with vintage costumes, live sound effects, and charming period commercials, the show is a heartfelt celebration of community, gratitude, and the holiday spirit. Performances run through December 21 in the Leishman Performance Hall, making it a perfect way to embrace the magic of the season.

🏀 Farmington Looks to Rebound After difficult Start to Basketball Season
Davis High’s boys basketball team kicked off their season in style with an impressive 85-46 win over Copper Hills, thanks to standout performances and sharp shooting. Meanwhile, Farmington High is off to a rocky start, struggling offensively in their first two games, including a tough loss to Viewmont. Davis looks ready to keep the momentum going, while Farmington is hoping to bounce back in their upcoming matchups.

Medicare Monday with
Matthew Jorgenson!

Stay Ahead of 2025 Changes to Your Coverage!
As of today, December 8, 2024, Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period has concluded. However, it's important to stay informed about upcoming changes to Medicare in 2025:
Key Changes Effective January 1, 2025:
Introduction of a $2,000 Out-of-Pocket Cap for Part D: Medicare Part D will implement a $2,000 maximum out-of-pocket limit for prescription drug expenses. This change aims to reduce the financial burden on beneficiaries.
Adjustments in Premiums and Benefits: With the new out-of-pocket cap, there may be significant changes in premiums and benefits across Medicare Advantage (MAPD) and Part D (PDP) plans. It's crucial to review your plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs.
What to Do Next:
Review Your Current Plan: Even though the Annual Enrollment Period has ended, it's essential to understand how these changes may affect your current coverage.
Stay Informed About Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs): Certain life events, such as moving or losing other insurance coverage, may qualify you for a SEP, allowing you to make changes to your Medicare plan outside the standard enrollment periods.
