๐ข The Point Transforms Old Utah State Prison Site into Thriving Community
The Point is a redevelopment project transforming an old prison site in Draper, Utah into a multi-purpose community space. Spanning 600 acres, it will feature a mix of retail, entertainment, offices, and homes, connected by scenic trails. The first phase includes developing 100 acres with offices, homes, shops, entertainment areas, a main street (The Promenade), a creative hub (Innovation Alley), a central gathering space, a trail, and a new train station. The project plans to build over 3,300 homes (including 400 affordable ones), parks, roads, walkways, office spaces, hotels, an events center, and shopping areas, all with eco-friendly designs. It aims to provide jobs, recreational activities, and education opportunities, with construction focusing on infrastructure beginning as early as 2025. The Point is envisioned as a source of pride for Utah, promising a better quality of life through its comprehensive development.
๐ก Utah's First-Time Homebuyer Program: A Beacon of Hope in a Tough Housing Market
Utah's new $50 million first-time homebuyer program provides significant support to new homebuyers, offering loans up to $20,000 to assist with down payments and mitigate high interest rates. The program has already aided hundreds of families, exemplified by the Gordons, who overcame high rents and escalating mortgage rates to purchase their first home. Targeting homes under $450,000, the initiative balances supply and demand in the real estate market, making homeownership more accessible in Utah's challenging economic environment.
โฝ Utah's Gas Prices Dip Below National Average Amid Varied Regional Costs
Utah's gas prices have recently fallen below the national average, a notable change in a trend of declining prices over the past year. As of late November, regular gas in Utah averaged $3.22 per gallon and diesel $4.18, slightly below the national averages. However, price disparities exist within the state; areas like Tooele and Davis Counties enjoy lower prices, while Southern Utah counties face higher costs. Over the past year, Utah has seen a significant drop in gas prices from $3.92 per gallon, and despite these decreases, it remains the 21st most expensive state for fuel in the U.S.

๐ Weber State Wildcats Triumph in Stunning 107-45 Victory Over Navajo Tech
Weber State men's basketball team bounced back strongly from a previous loss by thrashing Navajo Tech 107-45. The Wildcats dominated throughout the game, marked by exceptional shooting accuracy and Steven Verplancken's 19-point contribution. This win, a testament to their resilience, improved their season record to 4-2.

Winter Preparedness: How Davis School District Decides on Snow Days
The Davis School District has established procedures for closing or delaying schools in inclement weather, prioritizing safety. Decisions are made early based on weather analysis and communicated through multiple channels. Parents can choose to keep children home if travel seems unsafe, with schools offering support for missed work. Closed school days must be rescheduled as per state law.
District seeks public feedback: Proposed 24-25 school year calendar
The proposed calendar can be viewed at https://www.davis.k12.ut.us/parents-family/school-year-calendars.
Please submit your feedback through this form: https://forms.office.com/r/vY0pc3Rb07
It will close at midnight on Wednesday, November 29.
