Paragliding Crash Claims Life of Kaysville Resident at Willard Peak
A 25-year-old man from Kaysville, Utah, tragically lost his life in a paragliding accident near Willard Peak on Friday evening, October 25, 2024. The Box Elder County Sheriff's Office was alerted around 7:30 p.m. when the man was reported overdue from his paragliding activity. Search and rescue teams, aided by a Department of Public Safety helicopter, located a debris field, confirming the fatal crash. The body was recovered from the rugged terrain near the peak, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The man's identity has not been publicly released, pending notification of his family.
Bountiful Welcomes New Council Member Beth Child
The Bountiful City Council recently appointed Beth Child as a new council member to fill the seat of Jesse Bell, who passed away in August. Child, selected from 13 candidates after a tie-breaking vote by Mayor Kendalyn Harris, has been involved in community service for years and previously ran for the council twice. She aims to focus on the city’s general plan, encourage volunteerism, enhance Main Street, and address safety concerns in the “B” area. Child looks forward to serving and engaging with the community.

Heavy Snow Expected as Winter Storm Sweeps Across Utah's Mountains
A major winter storm is heading for Utah, expected to bring significant snowfall to all mountain regions. According to the National Weather Service, northern Utah mountains could receive up to 3 to 5 feet of snow, while central and southern ranges may see up to 2 feet. Lower elevation areas and valleys will also be impacted, with snow accumulation expected across the state, making travel difficult in many areas. Wind gusts and low visibility are likely to create hazardous driving conditions, especially in mountainous passes.
This storm marks one of the season’s first major snowfall
Utah World Speed Skating Events Canceled, Disappointing Athletes and fans
The upcoming World Speed Skating events scheduled to be held at the Utah Olympic Oval have been canceled. This decision comes amid unforeseen circumstances that prevent the competition from taking place. The cancellation is a significant disappointment for both athletes and fans, especially since Utah’s Olympic venues are often lauded for their world-class facilities and history of hosting major international events. These competitions were expected to bring top speedskaters to Utah, further cementing the state’s reputation as a winter sports hub.
The Olympic Oval, known for its record-breaking "fast ice," has previously hosted numerous prestigious events, including World Championships and Olympic trials. Unfortunately, this cancellation disrupts what would have been another prominent moment for the venue and its local and international athlet

Medicare Monday with
Matthew Jorgenson!
💡 Preparing for Medicare
I understand—choosing a Medicare plan can feel overwhelming. I’m here to help. Let’s work through your needs together.
I’ll be eligible for Medicare this year and…
I’m retired.
If you receive Social Security, you’ll automatically be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. Not receiving Social Security yet? Then you’ll need to enroll yourself.
I’m still working.
Even if you’re still working, it’s smart to enroll in Part A because it’s generally premium-free if you’ve paid Medicare taxes for 10 years.
You can still defer if you want, as long as your employer has 20+ employees. Otherwise, you’ll need to enroll in Part B to avoid a late enrollment penalty.
I’m a veteran.
Thank you for your service! If you’ve got VA coverage when you turn 65, you don’t have to enroll in Part A or B, but you may want to explore all coverage options.
I’m on my spouse’s plan.
Your spouse’s coverage may end when you become Medicare eligible. If it does continue, you can defer enrollment.
Of course, these are just a few scenarios that may apply to your situation. If you’ve got additional questions, I’m here to help!
