Winter Storm Watch in Utah with Post-Thanksgiving Flurries
Utah is under a Winter Storm Watch. Monday morning, expecting snow and slushy roads above 5,000 feet. Monday will be cold with brisk north winds, though snow showers will decrease, leaving slippery roads in higher regions. Tuesday sees clearer skies and slightly warmer temperatures, improving travel conditions. Wednesday continues the warming trend, with mild temperatures and smooth travel across the state. A potential new storm might arrive around Thanksgiving, possibly impacting Black Friday, with ongoing cold weather inviting more snow in several areas.

Woods Cross Community Calls for Increased Road Safety Measures Near Local School
Residents and parents in Woods Cross are advocating for a four-way stop at a busy intersection near Odyssey Elementary School, citing safety concerns for students. Despite numerous close calls and the risk of serious accidents, the city has not yet installed the stop due to findings from three traffic studies and budget constraints. Although the city has increased police presence and is considering other safety measures, the community remains determined to secure the installation of the four-way stop for the safety of the children.
🙏Grateful Survivor Spreads Thanksgiving Cheer
Ian Pizarro, a former Weber State University quarterback, transformed a life-threatening event into an inspiring Thanksgiving tradition. After surviving a near-fatal aortic tear in 2014, which occurred unexpectedly at a gym, Ian underwent a life-saving open-heart surgery. His recovery, marked by a challenging fight against pneumonia and significant weight loss, concluded with him returning home just in time for Thanksgiving, imbuing the holiday with new significance for him.
Motivated by his gratitude for life, Ian, along with his wife Brittany, started "Call to Give," a tradition of preparing Thanksgiving meals for families in need. What began as a small gesture has grown into a community-wide event, partnering with local organizations and reaching significant milestones like providing 100 meals in 2022. The initiative supports not only financially struggling families but also others facing various life challenges, including construction workers on duty during the holiday.
Ian and Brittany's efforts are supported by donations and volunteers, with a Venmo account and a donation option at Mountain America Credit established for contributions. They also encourage community involvement in meal deliveries on Thanksgiving Day. Their journey highlights the essence of Thanksgiving, focusing on togetherness, gratitude, and giving back.

The Festival of Trees: A Legacy of Love and Giving
The Christmas Festival of Trees, a deeply rooted community event with a 38-year history, is set to bring holiday cheer and generosity to the Mountain America Expo Center from November 29 to December 2, 2023. Originating from a personal loss, the festival was first held in 1986 as a symbol of community support and resilience, primarily benefiting Talbot Hospice. Now, it is a vibrant showcase of decorated trees, wreaths, and gingerbread houses, culminating in a silent auction with proceeds supporting Primary Children’s Hospital. This festival embodies community spirit, creativity, and compassion, inviting everyone to participate and contribute to its ongoing legacy of love and giving.
