May is Hepatitis Awareness Month – Are You Protected?
Hepatitis is a serious inflammation of the liver that can result from infection, certain medications, or other health conditions. Fortunately, many forms of hepatitis can be prevented through vaccination.
This May, take a moment to check your immunization status. Staying up-to-date on your hepatitis A and B vaccines is one of the best ways to protect your health—and the health of those around you.
📞 To schedule a vaccine appointment, contact the Davis County Health Department at (801) 525-5020 or visit our website to request an appointment online.
We accept most major insurance plans and offer affordable options for uninsured individuals. Don't wait—take charge of your health today.

66-Year-Old Rescued from Echo Reservoir, Officials Urge Caution
A 66-year-old Davis County man was rescued by bystanders after falling into Echo Reservoir while fishing. He was later airlifted to a Salt Lake Valley hospital in critical condition. Officials warn that despite warm spring air, water temperatures remain cold and dangerous, advising caution and the use of life jackets.

Traffic Snarled After Sinkhole Opens on Southbound I-15
A sinkhole that appeared Friday morning on southbound I-15 near Sunset caused major traffic disruptions. The issue surfaced just south of mile marker 334 in Davis County, where a section of the highway began crumbling, prompting immediate lane closures.
According to transportation officials, crews noticed the problem around 7:30 a.m., describing it as a noticeable depression in the road surface. As the area deteriorated, it revealed an underlying hole approximately 4 feet deep. The right lane was quickly closed off for safety and to allow for repairs.
The Utah Department of Transportation suspects the sinkhole may have been caused by erosion around an old drainage pipe. Temporary repairs were completed within a few hours, and all lanes were reopened by mid-afternoon.
Though no injuries or accidents were reported, the situation created substantial delays for commuters during the morning rush hour. Officials are continuing to assess the area to determine if further repairs or replacements to infrastructure are needed.

⛳️ Woods Cross Girls Golf Makes History with First Region 5 Title 🏌🏻♀️
Woods Cross High girls golf team won its first-ever Region 5 championship, led by senior Kennedee Pearson, who shot a 74 to share top individual honors at the May 6 tournament at Glen Eagle. The team’s strong overall showing, including top-10 finishes from Tess Poulsen, Vivian Oaks, and Makenzie Pearson, secured a five-stroke victory over Bonneville. Bountiful finished fourth with strong performances from Cambria Ohlson and Izzy Kuehne, while Viewmont took fifth, led by Berklie Fox.

💛 Support for Roman and His Family

Roman, a Bountiful High graduate and beloved member of our community, is facing his final battle with cancer after a long and courageous fight that began during his senior year. The oldest of five children, Roman comes from a family deeply rooted in service—his dad is a police officer, his mom, Lesli, is a volunteer sports photographer at local games, and Roman himself coaches little league football.
To know Roman is to love him. The family has given so much to our community, and now they could use our help more than ever.
🙏 Let’s rally around them.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support Roman and his family during this heartbreaking time:
