Young Entrepreneurs Set to Shine at the 2025 Acton Children's Business Fair in Bountiful

A new wave of young business minds is preparing to take center stage at the 2025 Acton Children's Business Fair, scheduled for Saturday, May 10th from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Bountiful Junior High School. Designed exclusively for kids ages 5 to 14, this vibrant event offers young entrepreneurs the rare opportunity to bring their ideas to life and operate real businesses for a day.

Hosted by CHOICE and backed by sponsors like Acton Academy, Mountain West Small Business Finance, and Green Gummy Bear 501(c)3, the event emphasizes creativity, independence, and learning through experience. Over 50 booths are expected to be run by about 120 young participants, each responsible for developing a brand, creating a product or service, and marketing it to hundreds of expected visitors.

Unlike a traditional school project or lemonade stand, this fair places all responsibility on the children themselves. Parents are strictly limited to logistical and financial support—coaching and in-booth assistance are off-limits. The goal is to give kids the space to experience the highs and lows of running a business independently, building skills in resilience, communication, and innovation along the way.

Past fairs have seen a mix of crafts, food, tech gadgets, games, and services, showcasing the diverse talents and interests of participants. Whether a young entrepreneur walks away with profits or lessons learned, organizers say the experience is unforgettable and empowering.

Rain or shine, the event promises to be a celebration of youth creativity and enterprise.

Hiker Airlifted After Injury Near Elephant Rock in Mueller Park

Outdoor enthusiasts are once again hitting the trails as warmer weather sets in, but the season’s first major mountain rescue served as a timely reminder of the risks involved. On Sunday, emergency responders from the South Davis Metro Fire Service Area were called to Mueller Park in Bountiful after a hiker became injured near the popular Elephant Rock landmark.

Due to the rugged terrain and the patient’s condition, a helicopter hoist operation was necessary to safely lift the individual from the mountainside. Once airborne, the hiker was transferred to an awaiting ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital. According to officials, the individual was in stable condition at the time of transport.

With the hiking season underway, first responders urge outdoor visitors to plan ahead, know their limits, and carry essential supplies when venturing into the backcountry.

Boy Found Bloodied and Seeking Help; Mother in Custody Following Disturbing Series of Events

A 35-year-old woman in West Valley City has been arrested after her injured 5-year-old son was found going door-to-door seeking help. The child reportedly suffered deep cuts and told neighbors his mother tried to drown him. Authorities say the woman entered a neighbor’s home naked, assaulted someone, and attempted to disarm a police officer. Evidence found in her home and on video supports the allegations. The boy has since been treated and released from the hospital.
