Hopebox Theatre Presents 'Mary Poppins' in Support of Local Cancer Fighter
The Hopebox Theatre invites the community to experience the magic of its latest production, Mary Poppins, running from August 2nd through August 24th. The beloved musical promises an evening filled with delightful songs, a talented cast, and timeless messages of hope and redemption. But this production is about more than just entertainment; it carries a powerful purpose.
In addition to showcasing the enchanting story of the iconic nanny, the Hopebox Theatre is dedicating this run to Lee Ann Beard, a member of the community currently battling cancer. Lee Ann is the latest recipient of the Wall of Hope, an initiative by the theatre to support local individuals facing serious health challenges. Proceeds from the show will contribute to her fight, with the theatre encouraging attendees to not only enjoy the performance but also to take part in spreading hope.
The production of Mary Poppins serves as a reminder that "anything can happen if you let it," a sentiment echoed throughout the showβs narrative. By attending, audience members can contribute to this message of hope, both on and off the stage.
Tickets are available now on the Hopebox Theatre's website, and the theatre encourages everyone to join in this heartwarming effort.

Antelope Island Hosts Free Watercolor Painting Event This August
The "UMFA in the Wild" painting event returns to Antelope Island on August 31. Organized by Virginia Catherall of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA), the event invites participants of all skill levels to paint outdoors, fostering community and creativity while emphasizing nature conservation. The event is free, but attendees must pay park entrance fees. It's a family-friendly activity designed to inspire both art and an appreciation for the natural environment.

Layton Hills Mall Undergoes Ownership Change with Revitalization Plans Ahead
Layton Hills Mall has been sold for $37.1 million to Second Horizon Capital, which plans to revitalize the shopping center. The new owner aims to enhance the mall's infrastructure and expand its retail and entertainment offerings to solidify its role as a community hub. Despite the challenges faced by brick-and-mortar retailers, Second Horizon Capital is optimistic about the mall's future and intends to make significant investments to ensure its long-term success.
