🚨 Suspected Arsonist Arrested After Layton Brush Fire Near I-15

A brush fire erupted along I-15 in Layton, Utah, near Hill Field Road, causing significant disruptions. The fire led to heavy smoke billowing off the highway, necessitating lane closures and a power shutoff in the vicinity to prevent further hazards. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby structures. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but a woman has been arrested for suspected arson in connection with the incident.

The Layton Fire Department is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred early Sunday near Kay's Creek Trailhead. The blaze, reported around 1:30 a.m., involved a home, camper, trailer, tow truck, and several other vehicles. Fire crews arrived to find the property and surrounding vegetation engulfed in flames, which they managed to contain within 30 minutes. The homeowners were out of town at the time, and the damage is estimated at $850,000. Juveniles were seen nearby, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
