Bountiful City Announces Fall Curbside Cleanup and Hazardous Waste Collection
Bountiful residents can take advantage of the city's fall cleanup events this October, with services designed to make seasonal yard work and home decluttering easier and safer.
Curbside pickup will run from October 6 to October 10, 2025, on residentsβ regular garbage collection days. Accepted items must be under 50 pounds and securely bundled, bagged, or boxed. Tree limbs and branches should be cut to under five feet and tied with sturdy twine. However, residents are reminded that construction debris, tires, propane tanks, and hazardous materials are strictly prohibited from curbside collection.
To further assist residents, the Bountiful Landfill will waive standard fees from October 6 through October 18 for the disposal of common household waste, including yard clippings, leaves, and tree limbs. Normal charges will still apply for construction materials, contaminated green waste, and dirt. The landfill will operate Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with all vehicles required to exit by closing time.
Additionally, a one-day hazardous waste drop-off event is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bountiful City Maintenance Facility, located at 950 South 200 West. Accepted items include batteries, household cleaners, paint, motor oil, antifreeze, and similar materials. Ammunition, explosives, medications, and radioactive substances will not be accepted.
For more information, residents can visit the cityβs sanitation page or call 801-298-6175.

Utah Worshippers Respond to Dual Sunday Tragedies
Utah Latter-day Saints learned of the Michigan meetinghouse shooting while attending Sunday worship, already grieving the death of Church President Russell M. Nelson. The tragedies prompted reflection, comfort in faith, and an emphasis on unity and love as taught by President Nelson. Across Utah congregations, members shared feelings of sorrow, resilience, and hope, drawing strength from the prophetβs legacy amid a time of dual mourning.

π Woods Cross Rolls Past Alta with Balanced Attack, Improves to 4-2
Woods Cross extended its winning streak with a dominant 35-14 road victory over Alta in a pivotal Region 6 showdown. The Wildcats displayed a well-rounded offensive attack, setting the tone early and maintaining control throughout the game.
Running back Viliami Tapa'atoutai powered the first half with two key rushing touchdowns, helping Woods Cross build a commanding 21-0 halftime lead. Quarterback Jesse Simmons kept the momentum going after the break, capping off a strong performance with two total touchdowns. One of the gameβs highlights came in the fourth quarter when Simmons launched a 71-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Teiyon Halbasch.
Alta responded with a pair of explosive plays, as quarterback Tucker Brown connected twice with Evan Morton for long touchdown passes. However, the Hawks struggled to establish consistency against a disciplined Woods Cross defense that shut them out in the first half.
The Wildcats, now 4-2 overall, strengthened their standing in the region, while Alta dropped to 2-4 with the loss.
