Spectrum Academy Boosts Hands-On Learning and Career Readiness Programs

Spectrum Academy is expanding its career and technical education programs for high school students, adding more hands-on learning opportunities tailored to neurodiverse learners.

The Utah-based charter school serves students with autism and other learning differences and is building on existing classes such as woodshop, culinary arts, video production, and coding. School leaders say the expanded programming is designed to help students build practical skills, confidence, and a clearer understanding of life after graduation.

The school emphasizes small class sizes, individualized instruction, and social skills development throughout the school day.

Recently named 2025 School of the Year by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools, Spectrum Academy says the expanded career readiness focus reflects its mission of helping students grow into capable, independent members of their communities.

Massive Boulder Crashes Onto Roadway in Big Cottonwood Canyon

A massive boulder tumbled down a steep mountainside in Big Cottonwood Canyon today, crashing onto the roadway just below the well-known S-curve. The rockfall sent debris across the pavement, creating a sudden hazard for drivers traveling through the canyon. Officials responded quickly to assess the situation and ensure public safety while crews worked to clear the roadway. No injuries were immediately reported, but the incident served as a stark reminder of the natural dangers present in canyon travel, especially along narrow, winding routes.

Former Bountiful High Standout Matt Nadauld Claims National Championship

A Utah native and Bountiful High School graduate has reached the top of wheelchair tennis by winning a national championship. Matt Nadauld earned the title after years of perseverance and dedication, competing against the nation’s best adaptive athletes.

Nadauld’s victory highlights both his personal resilience and the growing impact of adaptive sports. For the Bountiful High community, his national championship stands as a point of pride and an inspiring example of determination and achievement.
