๐ญ Shakespeare Under the Stars in Kaysville
A local theater group is bringing a free performance of Much Ado About Nothing to Heritage Park in Kaysville on Saturday, May 30 at 7 PM. Organizers are currently looking for businesses willing to display flyers, host lawn signs, or help spread the word through community groups and calendars. Free community events like this give local families an easy, affordable way to enjoy arts and entertainment close to home.

๐ธ Crossing Guards Asking Drivers to Slow Down
A Bountiful crossing guard shared a close call this week after a driver reportedly hit and dragged one of her traffic cones through a school crosswalk before driving away. The post sparked dozens of comments from local parents, fellow crossing guards, and residents who say dangerous driving in school zones has become far too common around South Davis schools.
With the school year still in session, crossing guards are reminding drivers that a few extra seconds of patience can help keep kids โ and the people protecting them โ safe on their way home.
Several residents thanked crossing guards for continuing to show up despite repeated close calls. One Centerville crossing guard shared that she experienced a near miss the very same afternoon, while parents voiced frustration over speeding and distracted driving in active school zones.
The conversation quickly turned into a broader reminder for the community: slow down, stay alert near crosswalks, and remember that crossing guards are often standing just feet away from moving traffic while helping kids safely cross busy streets.
๐ AI Graduation Announcements Spark Debate in Davis County
Students at several Davis County high schools pushed back after schools explored using an AI system called Tassel to read graduatesโ names during commencement ceremonies. Petitions at Northridge High School and Layton High School helped stop the plans, while Davis High School is still moving forward with the AI-assisted ceremony. For many local families, graduation is a deeply personal tradition, and students are making it clear they want the moment to feel human โ not automated.

โณ Woods Cross Girls Golf Repeats as State Champs
The girls golf team at Woods Cross High School captured back-to-back 5A state championships this week at Riverbend Golf Course, finishing 10 strokes ahead of Skyline. Tess Poulsen led the Wildcats with a strong two-day performance, while teammates Vivian Oaks and Makenzie Pearson also finished among the tournamentโs top golfers.
Our Local schools were well represented throughout the tournament, with Bountiful High School golfer Cambria Ohlson finishing in the top 10 individually and Woods Cross continuing its rise as one of the stateโs top girls golf programs.
