Nestled in the charming streets of Bountiful, Utah, Sweet Cake Bake Shop stands as a testament to perseverance, innovation, and a passion for baking. Founded by Allison Regan, affectionately known as Ali, this dedicated gluten-free and vegan bakery has been delighting the community with its delectable treats for 15 years.

A Journey of Health and Healing

Ali's story is one of resilience. Diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2003, she faced significant health challenges, including the onset of Type 1 Diabetes (LADA) and Crohn’s Disease. The diagnosis forced her to adopt a strict gluten-free diet, which, at the time, was fraught with limitations and frustrations. Ali missed the joy of baking with her children and sharing meals with her family. This led her on a journey of experimentation and innovation, resulting in her own unique gluten-free flour blends: Master Mix and Master Lite.

With a Bachelor of Science Degree from UC Berkeley, Ali utilized her background to perfect her flour blends. She baked privately for several years before opening the first Sweet Cake Bake Shop in Kaysville, Utah, in 2009. Now, the bakery has found its permanent home on Main Street in Bountiful, bringing Ali back to her roots.

What Makes Sweet Cake Bake Shop Unique

Sweet Cake Bake Shop is not just another bakery; it is a place of healing and happiness for those struggling with Celiac Disease and other dietary restrictions. The bakery prides itself on being 100% from scratch, mixing their own flour blends daily and creating everything in-house—from jams and caramel to pastry cream and pie crusts. The flours, made from almond meal, coconut flour, and other gluten-free ingredients, are higher in protein and dietary fiber, making them a healthier alternative to traditional gluten-free flours.

In addition to their gluten-free offerings, Sweet Cake Bake Shop has expanded its menu to include a variety of vegan items. Ali’s dedication to her craft and her community shines through in every product, making each bite a labor of love.

Couples Invited to Join Free Relationship Workshop in Farmington

Utah State University's Healthy Relationships Utah program offers a free marriage enhancement class based on Dr. John Gottman's book at the Farmington Davis County Library on four Tuesdays from July 30th to August 20th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Couples will learn to improve their friendship, romance, and conflict management skills. Registration is available online.

Carnival and Magic Show in Davis County Aims to Help Foster Care

Davis County is hosting a family-friendly carnival and magic show on August 2, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, to benefit Utah Foster Care. The event, organized by TL Floor and Design and Modern Woodmen of America, will feature $1 carnival games, bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals, and treats. All proceeds will go to Utah Foster Care. A free magic show will follow the carnival activities. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets. Registration is limited to the first 125 people.

New Felony Charges for Men in Connection with Multiple Church Burglaries

Two men, Lee Pierce Baker, 21, and Malachi Scott Guttierrez, 19, already facing multiple charges for burglarizing meetinghouses of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have been linked to additional incidents. They were charged with nine more counts of burglary, a third-degree felony. These new charges are related to break-ins last August and September in South Jordan, West Jordan, Riverton, and Draper. A third man, Daxton Layne Rushworth, 19, is also involved but has not yet faced new charges. The group targeted kitchens for food and bishops' offices for money, gift cards, and electronics.
