From 1857 to Today: The Enduring Legacy of Bountiful Tabernacle
The Bountiful Tabernacle, a prominent white building in downtown Bountiful, has been a central part of the community since its construction began in 1857. Early settlers, seeking to establish a communal and religious hub, built the Tabernacle using local materials like adobe and lumber. Augustus Farnham, a self-taught architect, designed the building in Greek Revival style. Completed in 1863, it has faced potential demolition but was saved and renovated in the 1970s. The Tabernacle remains a cherished landmark, symbolizing the perseverance and dedication of Bountifulβs residents.

Summer Starts as Local Baseball Teams Conclude Playoff Runs
As the school year ends and summer begins, local high school baseball teams in Davis County have wrapped up their seasons with mixed results in the playoffs. Viewmont, Woods Cross, Bountiful, Davis, and Farmington all faced early exits, with some surprises along the way.
Viewmont, a strong contender in Class 5A, was unexpectedly ousted by Box Elder despite a promising start. After dominating the regular season and winning their first playoff game decisively, Viewmont stumbled, losing two consecutive games to end their season with a 19-7 record.
Woods Cross also faced heartbreak in the super regionals, falling to Murray in two close games. Both matches were decided by a single run, with Woods Cross narrowly missing victory and concluding their season at 17-12.
In a dramatic local face-off, Davis and Farmington battled in the super regionals. Davis, having swept the regular season meetings, continued their dominance, defeating Farmington in two games. Despite their initial success, Davis's playoff run was cut short in the double-elimination bracket, losing to Corner Canyon and Mountain Ridge, and finishing with a commendable 22-7 record.
Farmington's challenging season ended with a 10-18 record, but they showed resilience throughout. The conclusion of the baseball season marks the transition to summer, with teams looking forward to regrouping and preparing for the next year.

Planning a camping trip? Here's a delightful treat for everyone to enjoy: Campfire Cake in an Orange.
1. Cut the tops off oranges and scoop out the fruit (you can use the fruit for a refreshing fruit salad).
2. Fill each orange just past halfway with prepared cake mix.
3. Place the tops back on and wrap each orange in foil.
4. Set the wrapped oranges in the campfire coals for about 20 minutes.
The result is a deliciously moist cake with a hint of orange flavor. Enjoy!
