Dog Dies in Early Morning House Fire in Clearfield

A dog has died following an early morning house fire in Clearfield, Utah. The blaze broke out around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday at a residence near 120 South 300 West, prompting a rapid response from multiple fire departments.

Crews from North Davis, Clinton, Syracuse, and Hill Air Force Base arrived to find smoke drifting from the front of the home and heavy flames at the rear. Firefighters entered the building and discovered one dog deceased inside. Fortunately, they were able to rescue another dog from the property. No residents were home at the time of the fire.

The flames were brought under control within about an hour. Although the fire was contained to the affected home, some nearby houses sustained minor exterior damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

12-Year-Old Injured in Centerville E-Bike Crash

A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday night after being struck by a car while riding an e-bike in a Centerville crosswalk.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. at 400 East and 900 South. The boy was crossing the street with friends when a Subaru wagon passed a stopped car and hit him. He was reportedly ahead of the group and went over the vehicle’s hood upon impact.

Emergency responders transported the child, who was wearing a helmet, to Primary Children’s Hospital with a head injury. He was alert and conscious, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police cited the driver for illegally passing a stopped vehicle at a crosswalk. Impairment is not suspected. The investigation is ongoing.

Big Plays, Costly Flags Define Wildcats’ 28-14 Win Over Bountiful

WOODS CROSS — In a heated rivalry matchup, Woods Cross pulled off a 28-14 win over Bountiful despite a record-tying 38 penalties between the teams. After an early score by Bountiful, the Wildcats answered with a quick touchdown drive and took a 13-7 lead into halftime. The Redhawks briefly regained the lead in the fourth quarter with an 84-yard run, but Woods Cross responded immediately with a 60-yard touchdown pass and sealed the win with a pick-six. The victory marks a strong start to Region 6 play for Woods Cross and ends Bountiful’s recent dominance in the rivalry.

🧸 Be the Light with Lily’s Birthday Stuffed Animal Drive

Last year, Lily celebrated her birthday by organizing a stuffed animal drive for Intermountain Health’s Cancer Center—collecting 140 stuffed animals to comfort kids whose parents are battling cancer. 💛

This year, she’s back with an even bigger goal: 200 stuffed animals by September 30th! Each donation, whether new or gently loved (small to medium-sized), helps bring hope and comfort to kids and teens during an unimaginably hard time.

There are lots of ways to get involved:

  • Drop donations off at Lily’s house

  • Order online and ship directly to her

  • Meet up for a hand-off

  • Or contribute funds so she can purchase animals on your behalf

As Lily shared, “Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see.” 🌟
