Holiday Cheer Delivered Right to Your Yard by Girl Scout Troop 2112

Christmas magic is just a few clicks away, thanks to a festive fundraiser hosted by Girl Scout Troop 2112. The troop is offering a whimsical “Candy Cane My Lawn” experience, bringing joy to families and raising funds for troop activities.

Participants can sign up to have their front lawns transformed into a winter wonderland overnight. Troop members, dressed as cheerful “elves,” will place a custom number of edible candy canes across the yard. Families can choose whether the sweet surprise comes with a note from Santa’s elves or their personal Elf on the Shelf—adding a personalized touch to the seasonal fun.

The experience is designed to create a heartwarming surprise for children to discover in the morning, making the countdown to Christmas a little more magical. All proceeds support the troop's programs and community projects.

To reserve a spot, simply fill out the online form and select your preferred candy cane quantity and delivery message. The elves will take care of the rest—no ladders, cold fingers, or tangled lights required.

Man Hospitalized After Fiery Crash on I-15 in South Davis

Emergency crews responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash on I-15 Tuesday evening, resulting in one man being hospitalized in critical condition. The incident occurred around 6:36 p.m. within the South Davis Metro Fire Service Area.

Initial reports indicated a man was trapped inside a burning vehicle. By the time fire crews arrived on the scene, Utah Highway Patrol troopers had already pulled the individual from the vehicle. He was immediately transported to a Salt Lake City hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Two other people involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were evaluated and released at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Utah Woman Missing for Days After Beach Bonfire in California

A Utah woman has been missing for nearly a week after disappearing from a beach in central California. Danielle Staley, 35, of Holladay, was last seen the night of November 6 near Rio Del Mar State Beach in Santa Cruz County.

Staley had been traveling with a friend and joined a group for a beach bonfire that night. The friend became separated from the group, and Staley was gone by morning. Her belongings were found on the beach, and she has not contacted family or friends since — behavior investigators say is unusual.

Santa Cruz County deputies are reviewing surveillance footage and following tips. There is no indication she left the county, and the search remains focused in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office at 831-471-1121.

🧣 Community Cares: Sunday Soup & Blanket Drive Helping Those in Need

Local neighbors are stepping up in a big way through the Sunday Soup and Bountiful Blanket Drive, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake City. Organizer Fox Les is collecting donations of used blankets, coats, gloves, and beanies — with a convenient drop-off box located at Dick’s Market on Orchard Drive.

Food donations are also welcome, including canned goods, noodles, beans, and vegetables, which volunteers use to prepare hot soup handed out every Sunday morning.
Those interested in helping cook, donate, or assist with distribution can reach out to Les directly for details.

As temperatures drop, this grassroots effort is a powerful reminder of Bountiful’s caring spirit and the difference we can make together.

Community Fundraiser to Feature Heroic Utah Ranger

Come join a powerful community fundraiser on Saturday, November 15, 2025, spotlighting the incredible survival story of Ranger Brody Young. In 2010, while on duty near Moab, Young was ambushed and shot nine times. His recovery and return to service stand as a testament to resilience and determination.

Now the Watch Commander for Utah Parks’ Southeast Region, Young will be the keynote speaker at the event, organized by the Davis County Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. Titled “Give Back to Those Who Make the Badge Matter,” the evening includes dinner and a raffle, held at the Woods Cross Public Works Building.

🦃 Annie’s Café Serves Up Kindness This Thanksgiving

The spirit of giving is alive and well at Annie’s Café, where owners Annie and David are opening their doors — and their hearts — to anyone in need of a warm meal and good company this Thanksgiving.

Their free community Thanksgiving dinner will be held Wednesday, November 27 at 3:00 PM at Annie’s Café, featuring all the comforting favorites: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, rolls, and homemade desserts.

Annie shared, “We want everyone to feel cared for and celebrated — families, seniors, young adults — anyone who could use a place to belong this holiday.”

No reservation is needed, but guests are encouraged to call 385-327-3737 so the café can prepare plenty for all.

“It would truly mean a lot to share this moment together as a community,” Annie added. “We’re so thankful for the people who make this town feel like family.”
