Universal Closet: Free Back-to-School Shopping Event for Families in Need

The 6th annual Universal Closet event is set to take place at the Bountiful High School Auxiliary Gym on Saturday, August 3, 2024. This massive free shopping event aims to support families in the South Davis County area by providing essential back-to-school items at no cost.

The Universal Closet event, located at 695 South Orchard Drive, Bountiful, will be open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. During this time, families in need can shop for gently used clothing, bedding, and towels, as well as new socks and underwear. The event, organized by the North Salt Lake Stake Relief Society, is designed to help those who might need extra support as the new school year approaches.

In preparation for the event, organizers are calling on the community to contribute donations. Gently used clothing, bedding, and towels can be bagged and labeled with gender and size, then dropped off at 567 Lofty Lane, NSL, by Tuesday, July 30. For those wishing to donate new socks and underwear, an Amazon Wish List is available for convenient online purchasing.

The event also relies on the help of volunteers. With 300 slots available, the organizers are seeking additional support to ensure the event runs smoothly. Half of the volunteer positions have already been filled, but more help is needed. Volunteers will assist in setting up the event on Thursday, August 1, and Friday, August 2, and help during the event itself.

The Universal Closet event is a community-driven effort to provide for neighbors in need, reflecting the spirit of giving and support that characterizes the area.

Utah Man with Cerebral Palsy Inspires Kids with New Children's Book

Johnathan Aubrey, a Utah resident with cerebral palsy, has published a children's book titled "Am I Different?" Aubrey's book, inspired by his experiences growing up with cerebral palsy, aims to convey that children, regardless of physical disabilities, can achieve difficult tasks and find greater happiness. Aubrey, now in his 40s and the CEO of Winning Despite Obstacles, promotes this message through his book and speaking engagements. He recently hosted a book signing at Storybook Nook in West Jordan and has another scheduled at the Printed Garden in Sandy on July 26th.

🎤 Free Summer Concerts in Davis County

Bountiful City’s Music in the Park

Concerts will be held at the Main Stage at the Bountiful City Park: 400 North and 200 West. They take place on Friday evenings at 7PM. There will be food trucks at site at each concert.

Rock the Park at Station Park

This summer you can enjoy local, live entertainment and bands next to the fountains at Station Park. Grab dinner first or bring a picnic from home to eat while you listen. Rock the Park will take place Friday evenings in August. Concert details can be found on their Facebook page!
