Bountiful's FREE Yoga in the Park Kicks Off This Saturday

Starting Saturday, May 24, locals can enjoy a rejuvenating outdoor yoga experience every weekend at Bountiful Town Square. The free all-levels class offers participants the chance to connect mind and body in the fresh air, with sessions taking place every Saturdayโ€”weather permitting.

This yearโ€™s summer yoga series is hosted in the heart of Bountiful at 75 E 200 S, providing a scenic and family-friendly setting. After stretching and flowing under the open sky, families are encouraged to stay and take advantage of the parkโ€™s amenities. Kids can cool off in the splash pad, and families can enjoy a picnic lunch on the lawn. Swimsuits and towels are recommended for those planning to get wet.

The class is open to all and operates on a donation basis. Twenty percent of all proceeds go to Yoga Forward, a non-profit that works to make yoga accessible to underserved communities. Yoga mats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and attendees are encouraged to bring water and any personal gear they might need.

Please note that dogs are not permitted in the park. Classes will continue each Saturday throughout the summer unless interrupted by inclement weather or conflicting city events. For real-time updates and scheduling details, visit the official event page.

Bountiful Police Run with Purpose in Special Olympics Torch Relay

This week, the Bountiful City Police Department took part in a beloved annual traditionโ€”the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. The event brought officers and Special Olympics athletes together in a powerful show of unity and support, as they ran side by side through the city with the iconic Flame of Hope.

The Torch Run serves as a symbol of solidarity and inclusion, highlighting the impact of sports in bringing communities together. As the flame travels across Utah, it carries a message of acceptance, celebrating the achievements and spirit of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

For the Bountiful Police, participating in the Torch Run is more than a community eventโ€”itโ€™s a heartfelt commitment to fostering acceptance and uplifting every member of the community. Their involvement reflects a shared dedication to promoting dignity, respect, and opportunity for all.

Farmington Man Arrested After Alleged Threats, Stalking of Salt Lake City Mayor

A Farmington man has been arrested after allegedly stalking and threatening Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall over her recent changes to the city flag. The modifications were made to comply with a new Utah law limiting the display of non-sanctioned flags, which critics say targets LGBTQ+ symbols.

Jason Guy Rogers, 45, faces charges of stalking and electronic communication harassment. Authorities say Rogers posted violent threats on social media directed at Mendenhall and her family. He denied making the posts, claiming his account was hacked. However, shortly after being interviewed by police, another post appeared on his account, and he was spotted outside the mayorโ€™s office attempting to enter through locked doors.

Rogers left the scene when security noticed him. He was later arrested and booked into the Davis County Jail.

Illegal Climb at Draper Aquarium Prompts Police Investigation

A group calling themselves Urbex Utah illegally entered the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper and climbed the large "Claw" structure above the building. The act was filmed and posted on Instagram, showing members dangerously hanging from the structure.

Though the group admitted on social media that their actions were illegal, they said it was done for fun. Draper police are now investigating and say those involved could face charges. Authorities are also concerned the stunt could lead to serious injuries or inspire copycats.

The aquarium declined to comment, and police are asking the public for information.
