Centerville is buzzing with new opportunities as four fresh businesses join the local landscape, each bringing unique services and offerings to the community.

🙌 Friendly FYI: Be Mindful with Back-to-School Photos This Year

As the new school year kicks off, many families in our area are getting ready to post those classic first-day-of-school photos — backpacks on, smiles wide, and signs showing off the new grade. It’s such a fun tradition, but here’s a quick reminder to keep safety in mind before sharing online.

This helpful tip originally came from the Saratoga Springs Police Department, and it’s great advice for families everywhere — including right here in our community.

Photos that include personal details like your child’s school name, teacher, grade level, or even your home address (sometimes visible in the background) can be misused by people with bad intentions. Predators and scammers can piece together information, even when your account settings seem private.

So before you hit "post," consider keeping those personal details out of the frame — or leaving them off the sign altogether. A simple photo with a big smile can still make a great memory without giving away too much.

Just a little reminder to help keep your family safe as the school year begins. Wishing all our local students and teachers a fantastic first day!

🔥 North Ogden Fire Burns 50 Acres, Spares Homes Despite Close Call

A grass fire in North Ogden on Monday afternoon spread quickly toward homes but was contained without any structural damage. The fire began around 4:30 p.m. near 2650 North and 425 East, burning approximately 50 acres of dry vegetation as it moved uphill.

Fire crews from multiple agencies responded swiftly, preventing the flames from reaching homes. No evacuations or injuries were reported. The fire was fully contained by nightfall, with crews remaining on-site to monitor hotspots. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Search Underway for Endangered Juvenile Last Seen August 9

Authorities in West Bountiful, Utah, are asking for the public’s help to find 17-year-old Charlotte Sterling, who has been reported missing since the evening of August 9, 2025. Charlotte was last seen at 9:52 p.m. after telling her mother she was going for a walk, but she never returned home.
Officials say she has a medical condition that requires regular medication and may need urgent care. At the time of her disappearance, Charlotte was wearing gray sweatpants, a black shirt, and a gray sweater. Her family and police are deeply concerned for her safety.
Anyone who has seen Charlotte or has information about her location is urged to contact the West Bountiful Police Department at 801-292-4487.
