City Reminds Residents of Solicitor Rules as Warmer Weather Brings More Door-Knockers

With spring in full swing, West Bountiful officials are reminding residents to stay vigilant when approached by door-to-door solicitors. The city enforces a Solicitor License requirement for individuals who wish to go door-to-door selling goods or services. Anyone soliciting in West Bountiful must carry a city-issued license and present it upon request.

Residents are encouraged to report any solicitor unable or unwilling to provide a valid license. Reports can be made to police dispatch by calling 801-298-6000. The city emphasizes this measure as part of its effort to keep neighborhoods safe and prevent unwanted or fraudulent solicitation.

However, not all solicitors need a license. Exemptions apply to nonprofit, charitable, or religious groups that are officially recognized by the State of Utah. Individuals with pre-scheduled appointments, as well as members of local churches, schools, and civic organizations conducting fundraising activities, are also not subject to the licensing requirement.

The city urges residents to remain cautious, ask to see a license if unsure, and help ensure that proper procedures are followed.

Summer Access Starts Now at South Davis Recreation Center

The South Davis Recreation Center is kicking off summer early with the launch of its seasonal pass, now available for purchase starting May 1. The Summer Pass gives residents and visitors full access to the facility from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, offering an affordable way to enjoy the center’s amenities throughout the warmer months.

Available for purchase through June 30, the Summer Pass provides a flexible entry option for individuals and families looking to make the most of the summer season. In a convenient twist, pass holders can upgrade to a full annual membership at any point before the end of September simply by paying the difference in cost.

The center encourages early purchase to maximize value and ensure access to popular summer programming and amenities.

Woods Cross senior Kennedee Pearson led her team with standout performances, winning at Crane Field and placing second at Sun Hills, helping the Wildcats secure top finishes. Farmington claimed a win at The Barn, led by Kate Dewsnup, while Bountiful and Viewmont also had solid outings in a week packed with local high school golf competition

Centerville parent Camille Schildan reached out to share the heartfelt story of Mrs. Kristin Page, a beloved kindergarten teacher at J.P. Stewart Elementary whose job is at risk—despite strong student performance and overwhelming parent support.
