Crowds and Closures Expected at South Davis Rec Center During Swim Meet
The South Davis Recreation Center will be especially busy this Friday and Saturday as it hosts the Thanksgiving Invitational, a high school swim meet organized by Viewmont High School. With 30 schools participating, the event will fill the gym, party rooms, and foyer with student athletes and spectators.
The lap pool will be closed for much of both days, and parking will be very limited. Regular visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and expect delays or disruptions to normal facility access.

Lagoon Updates Toddler Policy: Free Rides for Kids Under 2 in 2026
Lagoon Amusement Park is making a family-friendly change for its 2026 season by offering free access to rides and attractions for toddlers under 24 months of age. Beginning next year, young children will no longer need individual ride tickets or a toddler season pass to enjoy the park.
Under the current policy, children under 24 months can enter the park and Lagoon A Beach at no cost, but must either purchase individual ride tickets or a toddler season passport to access attractions. That will change in 2026, when those same toddlers will be able to ride suitable attractions, visit Lagoon A Beach, and attend Frightmares without any additional fees.
The update comes as part of Lagoon’s continued efforts to improve the experience for families with young children. The park features several rides designed specifically for toddlers and smaller kids, many of which are limited to younger guests due to size and height restrictions.
It’s important to note that once a child reaches 24 months, they’ll need a regular single-day pass or season passport to participate. For families planning ahead, Lagoon’s season passports go on sale November 19, with special Black Friday pricing available through December 1, 2025.

Grizzly Bear Sighting Near Utah Sparks Talk of Return
A grizzly bear spotted in April 2024 just 20 miles from Utah’s northern border has raised the possibility of the species returning to the state for the first time in over a century.
While the bear hasn’t been confirmed inside Utah, its proximity reflects broader grizzly recovery efforts across the region. Wildlife experts say a return could bring both ecological benefits and management challenges.
Utah’s deer herds, already stressed by severe winters and drought, could see additional fawn losses if grizzlies return. However, studies show grizzlies mostly eat plants and rarely prey on large animals.
Unlike black bears, grizzlies play a distinct ecological role—spreading seeds, aerating soil, and moving nutrients across the landscape. Though no policy decisions are being made yet, experts say it’s time for Utahns to start thinking about the potential return of these powerful predators.

Controversial Calls Define Mammoth’s 3-2 Overtime Loss to Islanders
The Utah Mammoth lost 3-2 in overtime to the New York Islanders in a game overshadowed by two controversial goal reviews. Utah briefly held a lead thanks to goals from JJ Peterka and Dylan Guenther, but a disputed goal in the third period tied the game. The Mammoth earned a point in the standings but were outplayed in overtime, where Islanders rookie Matthew Schaefer scored the game-winner.

🐾 How Often Should You Brush & Bathe Your Pets?
A consistent grooming routine keeps your pets comfortable, reduces shedding, and supports healthy skin. Here’s a simple guide to help you stay on track:
🐕 Brushing
Brushing does more than keep coats tidy — it spreads natural oils, prevents mats, and helps you spot skin issues early.
How often:
• Dogs: A few times a week (daily for long or double coats)
• Cats: Weekly for short hair; several times a week for long hair
🛁 Bathing
Most dogs need a bath every 4–6 weeks, though active or allergy-prone pups may need more.
Cats rarely need bathing, but long-haired or older cats may benefit occasionally.
💦 Want help? Scenthound (new to Bountiful!) offers routine bathing and care without the home mess.
🌿 Products That Help Skin Health
Gentle, skin-supportive shampoos make a big difference:
• Skout’s Honor – Probiotic-based, great for sensitive skin
• Aroma Paws – Natural, plant-based, and aromatic
🍗 Nutrition Matters Too
Healthy coats start in the bowl.
Boost skin and coat health with:
• Omega-3 fish oil
• Goat’s milk
• High animal-protein diets
✨ Small habits = big results.
A few minutes of brushing and the right products can transform your pet’s coat and keep them feeling their best.

🧣 Community Cares: Sunday Soup & Blanket Drive Helping Those in Need
Local neighbors are stepping up in a big way through the Sunday Soup and Bountiful Blanket Drive, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake City. Organizer Fox Les is collecting donations of used blankets, coats, gloves, and beanies — with a convenient drop-off box located at Dick’s Market on Orchard Drive.
Food donations are also welcome, including canned goods, noodles, beans, and vegetables, which volunteers use to prepare hot soup handed out every Sunday morning.
Those interested in helping cook, donate, or assist with distribution can reach out to Les directly for details.
As temperatures drop, this grassroots effort is a powerful reminder of Bountiful’s caring spirit and the difference we can make together.
