Historic Redwood Road Drive-In and Swap Meet Under Threat
The Redwood Road Drive-In and Swap Meet in WVC, faces potential closure, with its fate to be decided on June 26th. This historic site, which opened in 1949, is the last drive-in on the Wasatch Front and the only one in Utah with multiple screens. The swap meet, active since 1960, hosts hundreds of local, diverse vendors and serves as a crucial cultural and community hub. A zoning change could endanger this landmark, impacting local heritage and community well-being. Community members are encouraged to attend the meeting to support preserving the site.

Navigating Farmington Canyon: Tips from a Local Family
If youβre planning a trip up Farmington Canyon, youβll want to hear from someone who knows the area well. A long-time resident, who has been driving up and down this scenic route for years, recently shared some invaluable advice on the Farmington community Facebook page. Here are the key points to keep in mind for a safe and enjoyable journey:
1. Be Prepared for Dirt Roads
Farmington Canyon is accessible by a narrow, dirt road that requires confident driving. With only one lane and frequent "wide spots" for passing, drivers must be comfortable navigating off the asphalt and sometimes into ditches or even up the hillside. Make sure you're ready for this challenge before setting out.
2. Stay Alert and Plan Ahead
To safely share the road, itβs crucial to watch both the immediate path and the road ahead. Anticipate approaching vehicles and utilize the wide spots, which appear every 10-20 yards, for passing. This foresight helps everyone move smoothly and safely.
3. Keep it Friendly
A little friendliness goes a long way on this intense mountain road. A simple wave to fellow travelers can help maintain a civil and cooperative atmosphere. Itβs a small gesture that makes a big difference.
4. Adjust Your Speed
Thereβs no set speed limit, so itβs up to drivers to be responsible. Fast drivers, especially those in ATVs or Razors, should slow down around corners to avoid collisions. Conversely, slower drivers should pull over at wide spots to let faster traffic pass. Balance safety with consideration for others.
5. Use Your Gears Wisely
Descending the mountain requires more than just your brakes. Downshift to avoid overheating and potentially damaging your brakes. Most cars have manual gear options, so familiarize yourself with these settings before your trip.
As our local expert advises, patience and preparation are key. Pack out what you bring in, be patient with fellow drivers, and most importantly, enjoy the stunning natural beauty that Farmington Canyon has to offer. Safe travels!

Memorial for Bountifulβs WWII Hero to Be Unveiled in France
Camille Noel, a Utah native, is ensuring the legacy of Lt. Jack Lundberg, a World War II hero from Bountiful, is preserved. Lundberg, who participated in the Normandy invasion and died in 1944 when his B-17 bomber was shot down, has inspired Noel since she discovered his story during a college assignment. On June 22, a memorial plaque dedicated to Lundberg and his crew will be unveiled in Γpagne-Γpagnette, France, thanks to Noel's efforts. The event will include many attendees, including family members and local dignitaries, highlighting the enduring impact of their sacrifice.
