Davis County Tackles Homelessness: Leaders Focus on Teens and Food Insecurity
County leaders in Davis County recently convened to address the growing issue of homelessness, particularly focusing on the 1,600 homeless or at-risk teens in the area. Kara Toone from the Davis Education Foundation highlighted that many teens lack stable housing due to various familial issues. Early intervention and extracurricular activities are crucial in preventing long-term homelessness. Ryan Westergard, CFO of Davis Behavioral Health, emphasized that basic needs must be met before focusing on recovery and treatment. Additionally, food insecurity is a significant problem, with the Bountiful Food Pantry seeing a dramatic increase in clients. Davis Technical College President Darin Brush stressed the importance of education and accessible pathways to living-wage jobs to combat homelessness.

Centerville Police Request Public's Help Identifying Elementary School Burglary Suspects

The suspects broke into a portable classroom, stole two ukuleles, and one appeared injured. The incident was captured on security footage. Anyone with information should contact the Centerville Police at 801-292-8441.
