Back-to-School Lunch Ideas to Keep Kids Happy and Parents Sane

As the school year begins, parents are once again faced with the daily challenge of packing lunches that are both nutritious and kid-approved. With a little creativity and planning, school lunches can be simple, fun, and stress-free.

Start by rethinking leftovers—grilled chicken can become a wrap, and roasted veggies make a great pasta salad. It’s a time-saver and helps cut down on food waste.

Skip the sandwich rut with grain bowls using rice or quinoa, topped with proteins like beans or cheese and colorful veggies. A side of dressing or dip keeps it flavorful and fun.

Snack-style lunches are great for younger kids or picky eaters. A bento box with fruit, crackers, cheese, and deli meat offers variety and lets kids mix and match.

Prepping ahead is key. Having boiled eggs, cut-up fruits, or mini muffins ready makes mornings smoother. Fun containers and themed lunch days (like “Taco Tuesday”) add excitement for kids.

Utah Gas Prices Climb While National Averages Drop

Utah is seeing a notable rise in gas prices this summer, with a 12-cent increase over the past month, reaching an average of $3.37 per gallon. While much of the U.S. experiences lower fuel costs, Utah's limited oil production and reliance on imports from Canada and Mexico contribute to the spike. Diesel prices are also climbing, with a 29-cent monthly increase. Experts forecast that prices may decline later this year, potentially dipping below $3 in Salt Lake City. 🤞

Bountiful Boutique Market Now Accepting Vendors for August Pop-Up

Wild Sage Events in Bountiful is gearing up to host the Think Big, Shop Small: August Market on Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This curated indoor market aims to offer a boutique-style shopping experience, featuring a handpicked lineup of local makers and small businesses.

Vendors in crochet, wreath-making, 3D prints, and skincare are already on board, with more slots available. The venue offers ample parking, a weather-proof indoor setting, and an intimate layout that gives each booth great visibility. A smaller vendor list means less competition and more customer engagement.

Booth options are budget-friendly—$70 for a full indoor table, $60 for an outdoor table, and just $40 for a half table, perfect for small-batch sellers or first-timers.

Organizers are backing the event with real promotion, including paid ads, flyers, local calendar listings, and vendor shoutouts on social media.

Bountiful Cheer Team Kicks Off Clothing Drive for Fundraising Effort

The Bountiful Cheer Team is rallying community support through a clothing drive fundraiser, offering an easy way for residents to donate and make a difference. Team members are collecting gently used clothing and household textiles, with all donations going to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah.

The drive not only helps fund mentorship programs across the state but also benefits the cheer team by contributing to their fundraising efforts for uniforms, travel, and competition expenses. Residents who wish to donate can simply send a direct message to the team’s Instagram page to schedule a clothing pickup, making it a convenient way to contribute from home.

This local effort combines community spirit, youth mentorship, and support for student athletics — all through the simple act of clearing out your closet.

The Knights of Columbus Council 5502 are proud to host the 1st Annual Golf FUNdraiser for Saint Olaf Catholic School! Please consider playing in this fun 18-hole scramble on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Lakeside Golf Course in West Bountiful.
