Mountain Lion Caught on Camera in Bountiful Backyard

A mountain lion was spotted early one morning in a Bountiful, Utah backyard, captured on a home security camera and shared in a local Facebook group. The video stirred a mix of amazement and concern from residents, with many noting the area's proximity to natural wildlife corridors like Mueller Park Canyon.

While some joked about the surprise visitor, others warned neighbors to keep pets indoors and stay cautious after dark. The sighting serves as a reminder that Bountiful’s foothill neighborhoods remain part of Utah’s wild landscape.

Bountiful Reveals Next Round of Clever Snowplow Names

Bountiful City is keeping spirits high this winter with the second installment of its popular “Meet the Snowplows” campaign. As part of a lighthearted community initiative, residents submitted names for the city’s fleet of snowplows—and the creativity continues to shine.

This week’s newly revealed names are:

  • Flake Effect

  • Salter Ego

The city is unveiling two names every Tuesday and Thursday until all 11 snowplows—and the brine truck—have been introduced. The campaign has added a fun, engaging twist to winter in Bountiful, bringing the community together one pun at a time—even if the snow itself has been slow to arrive.
