Blistering Heat, Fire Danger Set to Sweep Across Utah

Utah is facing its first major heat wave of the year, with northern areas expected to hit 100°F by Thursday. A Heat Advisory and Red Flag Warning are in effect, raising concerns about health risks and wildfire danger due to high temperatures, dry air, and wind.

Health officials and emergency services are encouraging people to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated, and check in on vulnerable individuals. As both heat and fire risk escalate, residents are urged to remain alert and take all necessary precautions.

🎶 Kenley Amphitheater Celebrates 30 Years of Summer Music 🎉

Davis County’s Kenley Amphitheater in Layton is kicking off its 30th season of the beloved Summer Nights with the Stars concert series! From KC and the Sunshine Band to The Beach Boys and tribute bands honoring the Beatles, Tom Petty, and Aretha Franklin, the lineup hits all the nostalgic notes — especially for fans 55+.

With 1,800 seats, free parking, and ticket prices typically $65 or less, the venue has become a go-to spot for affordable, high-quality live music under the stars. Thanks to strong community support, most shows sell out, and the Davis Arts Council expects the music to keep playing for years to come.

Davis School District Honors School Spirit with Mascot Celebration

The Davis School District celebrated National Mascot Day this week by recognizing the mascots that bring energy and pride to schools across the area. From pep rallies to sporting events, these costumed characters play a key role in building school spirit.

Photos of mascots were shared by schools throughout the district, with an open invitation for others to add their own in the comments. The district also thanked the students and staff who bring these mascots to life and help create a fun, spirited atmosphere.

Riverton Boy Killed After Firearm Safety Demonstration Goes Wrong

A Riverton man accidentally shot and killed his 14-year-old stepson while teaching his daughter about gun safety. Police say the man believed the firearm was unloaded but failed to clear the chamber. The boy was struck by a bullet and died at the scene. The shooting is being treated as accidental, and no arrests have been made.

The family is cooperating with police, and grief counseling resources have been made available through local agencies to support them in the wake of this devastating loss.

No child should go hungry during the summer! From June 2 to July 23, the Davis School District is offering free weekday lunches (Monday–Thursday) for all children ages 1–18 at 15 locations through the Seamless Summer Lunch Program.
