Meet Your County Leaders: Why Davis County Commissioners Matter

As the new year kicks off, many residents are resolving to become more informed about their local government — and for good reason. Decisions made at the county level often have a direct impact on everyday life, from public services and infrastructure to taxation and budgeting.

To help demystify the workings of local leadership, The Bountiful Forum has launched a new civic education series aimed at making local government more accessible to the public. The series begins with a deep dive into the Davis County Commissioners — the individuals tasked with overseeing county priorities, managing resources, and guiding long-term planning for the area.

Despite the significant influence commissioners hold, many residents are unaware of who these officials are or what their responsibilities entail. The article breaks down their roles in simple, straightforward terms, explaining how their decisions affect everything from law enforcement funding to land use policies.

This educational push serves as a reminder that staying informed is not just an option — it's a civic duty. The more residents understand about how decisions are made, the better equipped they are to participate meaningfully in their community.

For a full breakdown of who the Davis County Commissioners are and why their work matters, check out the original article by Tyler Nelson on The Bountiful Forum.

Farmington Unveils App for Easy Access to Trails, Parks, and History

Exploring the outdoors in Farmington has never been easier, thanks to a new mobile app that brings parks, trails, and historic landmarks right to your fingertips. The Farmington City Mobile App, built using ArcGIS Field Maps technology, offers instant access to interactive maps, trail guides, and key points of interest across the area.

Users can explore trails by difficulty level, access detailed information, and plan outdoor excursions directly from their devices. Whether you're hiking, biking, or simply sightseeing, the app makes it easy to navigate and enjoy the natural and historical beauty of Farmington.

Getting started is simple. If you already have the Field Maps app installed, scanning a QR code will instantly download Farmington’s outdoor map data. New users can install Field Maps via the same code, skip the sign-in process, and re-scan to auto-load the map—typically in under two minutes.

With just a few taps, residents and visitors alike can unlock a smarter, more connected way to explore everything Farmington has to offer.

🏀 Redhawks Soar Past Brighton Behind Dominant Second Half

In a dominant Region 6 performance, Bountiful surged past Brighton with a commanding 65-34 victory. The Redhawks pulled away decisively in the third quarter, orchestrating a powerful 21-4 run that left Brighton struggling to keep pace.

Leading the way for Bountiful was Milika Satuala, who delivered an impressive 27-point performance, highlighted by three shots from beyond the arc. Her offensive firepower set the tone and helped Bountiful maintain control throughout the game. Charlotte Johnson also contributed with 10 points, supporting the Redhawks’ balanced attack.

Despite the loss, Brighton found a bright spot in Sophie Nielsen, who tallied 20 points and sank two 3-pointers. However, the Bengals were unable to generate enough momentum to counter Bountiful’s strong showing after halftime.

How Puppy Classes Set the Foundation for Confidence 🐕💛

While puppy playdates are helpful, structured puppy classes offer guided socialization in a safe, supportive environment.

In class, puppies learn:
• Appropriate play and social skills
• Confidence around distractions
• Focus and engagement with their handler
• Foundational skills like sit, recall, and calm walking
• How to settle and observe — not just interact

Just as important, owners learn how to read body language and support their puppy’s emotional development.

🐾 Our next Puppy Class starts on the 14th and focuses on confidence-building, positive socialization, and early training skills.
Spots are limited to keep the experience calm and supportive.

👉 Stop by Preppy Paws or reach out if you’d like help deciding if this class is right for your puppy — we’re happy to help!
