New Bountiful Venue Launches with Local Art Pop-Up This Friday

A brand-new event space in Bountiful is making its debut with a vibrant community gathering this Friday evening. Wild Sage Events, a self-serve event venue located at the corner of Orchard Drive and 1500 South in the Bountiful Professional Plaza, is hosting its first public event on August 22 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The pop-up will feature an eclectic mix of local art, flavorful bites, and refreshing drinks. Visitors can browse a curated gallery of work from area artists, enjoy offerings from a local food stand, and sip on creative mocktails and slushes—making it an ideal outing for all ages.

This event is more than just an art show; it's a chance for the community to explore a new local business, support neighborhood creatives, and connect with others in a casual and welcoming setting. Organizers are encouraging RSVPs to help prepare for guests, but all are welcome to stop by and enjoy the evening.

Whether you're an art lover, a foodie, or simply curious about what's new in town, Wild Sage Events invites you to come out and be part of their very first community celebration.

West Bountiful PD Joins Statewide Tribute to Fallen Tremonton Officers

The community of Tremonton, Utah is reeling from a devastating incident that claimed the lives of two police officers late last night. The officers, serving with the Tremonton Garland Police Department, were killed while on duty, sparking an outpouring of grief from across the state.

In response, law enforcement agencies throughout Utah, including the West Bountiful Police Department, have publicly expressed their sorrow and solidarity. Tributes are pouring in, honoring the officers’ dedication and ultimate sacrifice in service to their community.

Adding to the tragedy, a deputy from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office and their K9 partner were injured during the same incident. Both are currently recovering, and fellow agencies have extended their heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery.

The loss has sent shockwaves through local and state law enforcement communities, reinforcing the profound risks faced by those in uniform every day. As residents and colleagues grieve, plans are underway to honor the fallen officers and support those affected by this heartbreaking event.

Tremonton Man in Custody After Deadly Shooting Kills Two Officers

TREMONTON, UT — A man is in custody at the Weber County Jail following a violent domestic incident and deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two police officers Sunday night in Tremonton.

Authorities say the suspect, Ryan Michael Bate, was heavily armed when officers responded to a domestic violence call around 9 p.m. at a home on 705 North, near 200 East. As officers arrived, Bate allegedly opened fire with a high-powered rifle, killing two responding officers.

The gunfire also hit Box Elder County Deputy Mike Allred and his K-9 partner, Azula. Allred has since been released from the hospital, and Azula, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois, is in stable condition.

Prior to the officers’ arrival, Bate reportedly assaulted his wife during a domestic altercation, allegedly slamming her head into a door frame. This wasn’t the first time law enforcement had been called to the home. In May 2024, Bate faced charges for aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child at the same address.

He is now being held on suspicion of aggravated murder and assault.

🐾 Back to School for Your Dog Too: Rewarding Skills the Positive Way

As the kids head back to school, it’s a great time to brush up on your dog’s skills too! When teaching new behaviors, rewards are the language your pup understands best. The idea is simple: pair the action you want with something your dog loves. Over time, they connect the behavior with the reward—making them more likely to repeat it.

For example:
If you’re practicing polite leash walking, reward your dog every time they keep the leash loose and walk calmly by your side. This way, they clearly understand what earns the good stuff.

At Preppy Paws, we recommend keeping a mix of reward levels on hand:

  • Elements Kibble – perfect for everyday practice and healthy enough for frequent use

  • Rocky Mountain Raw Freeze-Dried Treats – single-ingredient bites that grab attention fast

  • Smallbatch – wholesome, whole-food rewards with fresh, meaty flavor

Pro Tip:

  • Use kibble for simple, familiar skills.

  • Use whole food treats in busier or more distracting settings.

  • Save single-ingredient treats for big wins or tougher training moments.

  • Keep pieces small—so your dog stays focused without getting too full.

Mention this article and get 10% off

💡 Bonus: When choosing treats, match them to your dog’s regular diet. For example, if your dog eats Elements Outback (with kangaroo, wild boar, and lamb), try pairing it with a Smallbatch Lamb Booster or kangaroo jerky. This keeps training exciting without overwhelming their system with too many new ingredients.
