Rockin E Store Refocuses Inventory, Keeps Boots and Hats
Rockin E Country Store & Garden Center has announced a major change to its retail offerings. The locally owned store is phasing out its entire men’s clothing inventory, citing the growing challenge of competing with large retailers and online shopping platforms.
Despite stepping away from men’s apparel, Rockin E remains committed to providing popular essentials. Shoppers will still find a full range of kids’ boots, men’s boots, and a thoughtfully selected assortment of hats. The decision marks a shift in focus for the store, which is hinting at new plans and product lines on the horizon.
In the meantime, customers can take advantage of significant clearance deals on all remaining men’s clothing. Supplies are limited, and the store encourages shoppers to visit soon to snag the best bargains.

Hatch Park Redesign Delayed as North Salt Lake Residents Raise Concerns
Hatch Park in North Salt Lake is slated for a full redesign and rebuild, a project that has been generating interest and concern among residents. Although city officials have confirmed that the improvements are moving forward, delays in visible construction activity and questions about park maintenance have sparked a lively conversation online.
The city has officially closed the park to prepare for its upcoming transformation. According to the North Salt Lake city website, the redesign aims to modernize Hatch Park, offering improved amenities and new features for the community. However, construction—originally expected to begin in early 2025—has yet to start, leaving some residents questioning the timeline.
Concerns have also been raised about the condition of the park during its closure. Several residents have expressed frustration over what they see as early closure and lack of ongoing maintenance, particularly regarding the health of mature trees on the property. In response to comments about dying foliage and dry conditions, city officials clarified that the trees are currently being hand-watered by the Parks Department, despite the park’s closure.
Additionally, questions have surfaced about weed control and fire safety, echoing broader concerns seen across the Salt Lake area. The city has yet to issue a public response on that specific issue but continues to provide updates through its official channels.
Residents eager for more details or timelines are encouraged to visit the Hatch Park Redesign project page on the city’s website, where updates and future plans are shared.

Young Man Drowns at Willard Bay After Jumping From Boat Without Life Jacket
A tragic accident at Willard Bay State Park claimed the life of a 21-year-old man on Saturday, August 3. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. near the park’s north marina, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to the Utah State Parks Department, the young man had jumped off a boat and began struggling in the water shortly after. Despite efforts from those nearby to help, he slipped beneath the surface and did not resurface. His body was later recovered by dive teams from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office and Willard Fire Department.
Officials have not released the man’s identity pending notification of his family. Utah State Parks confirmed that he was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident. The tragedy has led to renewed calls from park authorities to prioritize water safety, especially during the busy summer season.
An investigation into the circumstances of the drowning is ongoing. Authorities are urging visitors to always wear life jackets and be cautious while boating or swimming.

🐾 Back to School Blues:
Beating Dog Boredom While the Kids Are Away
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
⭐️ As backpacks get packed and the school bell rings, many dogs are left wondering why their playmates have disappeared. The transition from summer chaos to quiet school days can lead to canine boredom—or even anxiety.
👇 Here’s how to help your dog beat the back-to-school blues:
1. Stick to a Morning Routine
Just like kids need structure, dogs do too. A quick walk or a sniff-and-seek game before the house empties helps release energy and reduce stress. A tired dog is a calm dog.
2. Use Enrichment Feeders
Ditch the food bowl! Mealtimes are a great opportunity for mental stimulation. Puzzle feeders like the West Paw Toppl—especially when stuffed and frozen with your dog’s breakfast and favorite toppers—keep them engaged and focused.
3. Leave Something to Do
Safe chews, lick mats, or frozen pupcicles can help pass the time while your dog is alone. We love Woof Pupcicles, Tall Tails Foraging Mats, and Doggin’ Stix Chews for a rotating boredom-blasting menu.
4. Schedule Midday Fun
If you're out most of the day, consider a drop-in enrichment session at Preppy Paws. We offer private play or mini sessions to keep your pup’s brain and body active.
5. Keep Evenings Engaging
After a quiet day, dogs need some quality time too. Sign up for an AKC class, take a short hike, or try a fun nosework activity to reconnect and give them something to look forward to.
