V & R Baking’s Thanksgiving Pie Orders Now Open—Free Rolls with Every Two Pies
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, V & R Baking Company is now accepting pre-orders for its seasonal pies—featuring eight of the bakery’s most popular flavors. Known for their handcrafted quality and rich holiday flavors, these pies are expected to take center stage at Thanksgiving tables across the community.
As part of a limited-time offer, customers who purchase any two pies will receive a free dozen freshly baked rolls—perfect for complementing any holiday spread.
Orders can be placed in person at either V & R location or by text. The bakery is offering bilingual ordering support, with separate contact numbers available for English and Spanish-speaking customers.
To ensure every pie is ready in time, all Thanksgiving orders must be placed by November 22.
Text or call 801-661-1409 for English
or 385-299-0228 for Spanish assistance.
Whether it’s a classic pumpkin pie or a seasonal favorite, V & R is making it easy to bring home the flavors of fall—plus a little extra.
Centerville Fundraiser to Feature Heroic Utah Ranger
Centerville will host a powerful community fundraiser on Saturday, November 15, 2025, spotlighting the incredible survival story of Ranger Brody Young. In 2010, while on duty near Moab, Young was ambushed and shot nine times. His recovery and return to service stand as a testament to resilience and determination.
Now the Watch Commander for Utah Parks’ Southeast Region, Young will be the keynote speaker at the event, organized by the Davis County Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. Titled “Give Back to Those Who Make the Badge Matter,” the evening includes dinner and a raffle, held at the Woods Cross Public Works Building.
Tickets are $30 and seating is limited. To reserve, contact Susan Barnes at [email protected] or 801-372-3327.

Millers Launch Cold Case Fund to Aid Families Seeking Justice
The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation has created a Cold Case Fund to help solve Utah’s hundreds of unsolved homicide cases. The fund will provide financial support for law enforcement agencies to access advanced forensic testing and expert resources, often unavailable due to limited budgets.
With over 400 cold case homicides in the state, the goal is to give grieving families hope by helping bring long-awaited answers and justice.

🏈 Lone Peak Cruises Past Farmington to Reach 6A Quarterfinals
Lone Peak surged into the 6A quarterfinals with a commanding 41-14 win over Farmington, showcasing dominance on both sides of the ball. The Knights wasted no time making an impact—an early interception returned 55 yards for a touchdown by Tevita Mounga gave them a quick boost and helped establish a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter.
Quarterback Kepa Niumeitolu kept the momentum going, leading the offense with a series of sharp throws, including a standout 46-yard touchdown pass to Jaron Pula in the second quarter. Lone Peak continued to apply pressure on defense, effectively shutting down Farmington’s scoring efforts for most of the game.
Farmington managed just one second-half touchdown—a short 2-yard run by Drew Love late in the game—after being stifled by the Knights' strong defensive front. With this victory, Lone Peak improves to 6-4 and will face the winner of the Bingham vs. Davis matchup in the next round of the playoffs.

🐾 If you can’t pronounce it, your dog probably shouldn’t eat it! 🐕🦺
Decoding Dog Food Labels: What’s Really in the Bag? 🦴
Many dog food labels can be confusing — but what’s listed first matters most. Understanding the ingredient list helps you avoid hidden fillers and support your dog’s long-term health.
🚫 Avoid These Ingredients:
• Corn, Wheat, Gluten – Cheap fillers that can cause allergies, itchy skin, ear infections, and digestive issues.
• By-Products – Unnamed animal parts (like beaks or feet) that are low in quality and inconsistent in nutrition.
• Artificial Colors or Preservatives – Add nothing beneficial and may trigger sensitivities.
✅ Look for These Instead:
• Whole, Named Animal Proteins – Chicken, beef, salmon, or lamb listed as the first ingredient.
• Wholesome Grains – Oatmeal, barley, or brown rice (if tolerated).
• Healthy Fats – Salmon oil, flaxseed, or chicken fat for a shiny coat and brain health.
• Simple, Recognizable Ingredients – Fewer mystery words, more whole foods.
💡 Pro Tips from Preppy Paws:
• Ingredients are listed by weight — the first few are the most important.
• Watch for ingredient splitting (like “corn meal” + “corn gluten”) — a trick that hides how much filler is really used.
