Kitchen Fire Quickly Contained in North Salt Lake Home

Fire crews responded swiftly to a residential fire in North Salt Lake this afternoon after reports of visible flames. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., prompting a rapid response from the South Davis Metro Fire Service Area. Upon arrival, firefighters found a blaze originating in the kitchen and immediately began fire suppression efforts.

Thanks to their quick action, the fire was brought under control before it could spread beyond the kitchen area. No injuries were reported, and all occupants, including pets, remained unharmed. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.

North Salt Lake Seeks New Planning Commission Members to Help Shape City’s Future

The City of North Salt Lake is calling on residents with a passion for thoughtful growth and community development to join its Planning Commission. This volunteer board plays a vital role in reviewing zoning, land use, and development proposals that directly impact the city’s livability and character.

With several openings available, the city is encouraging civic-minded individuals to step forward and take an active role in shaping North Salt Lake’s future. Appointed by the Mayor, Planning Commission members serve a four-year term and provide input on decisions that influence the community’s layout, design, and overall growth.

Whether you're an advocate for smart urban design or simply want to see North Salt Lake thrive, now is a great time to get involved. Residents interested in applying can find more information and submit their applications by visiting the NSLCity Website.

Man Shot and Killed by Police After Rock-Throwing Incident in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — A man died after being shot by police during a confrontation Wednesday morning at the intersection of 2100 South and 300 West. Authorities say the incident began when officers responded to a report of an active assault just after 9 a.m.

Upon arrival, two Salt Lake City police officers encountered an adult male reportedly armed with a rock. According to police, the man threw the rock at the officers during the encounter. In response, one of the officers fired at least one shot, striking the individual.

The man collapsed at the scene and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. His identity has not yet been made public.

One officer sustained injuries during the incident and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The case is now under investigation by the West Jordan Police Department, as part of standard procedure following a police shooting. The Utah Department of Transportation temporarily shut down lanes on 300 West in the area while police worked at the scene.

The shooting sparked concern among some witnesses nearby, with questions raised about how the situation was handled.

🏐 Woods Cross Sweeps Into Semis, Bountiful Rallies in 5A Volleyball Opener

Day 1 of the 5A girls volleyball state tournament saw top-seeded Woods Cross dominate its competition, earning 3-0 sweeps over Timpview and Spanish Fork to advance to the semifinals. The Wildcats showcased strong serving and efficient offense, hitting .478 against Timpview with standout performances from Avery Poulton and teammates Brylee Howard and Sitoafa Tausinga.

In a thrilling second-round clash, Bountiful overcame a two-set deficit to defeat Northridge 3-2. Led by Milika Satuala’s 28 kills and supported by Paisley Gosney, McKinley Duryea, and Isabella Beck, the Redhawks stormed back to win the final three sets and keep their title hopes alive.

Massage Minute with Chelsea 💆‍♀️

Tension Doesn’t Just “Go Away” 🌀💆‍♀️

Here’s something most people don’t realize: muscle tension doesn’t simply disappear on its own—it waits. It waits until you move wrong, sleep wrong, or finally stop and notice that dull ache in your neck or jaw. That’s your body tapping you on the shoulder, asking for a reset.

Massage isn’t just about relief—it’s about releasing what’s been sitting in your system for weeks, months, even years.Whether it's that nagging tight spot in your back or the jaw clenching you didn’t know you were doing all day… it’s time to let it go.

👐 Choose a session with me or our newest team member, Kristi, who brings nearly 20 years of deeply intuitive, therapeutic experience to the table (literally).

Book your appointment today and let’s reset what your body’s been holding onto.

🌿 Wellness Wednesday with Erin 🌿

🌿 Peace Over Power, Friendship Over Force

Dr. Abraham Low—one of the pioneers of emotional wellness—often called his patients “My dear ones.” He reminded us that peace doesn’t come from controlling everything around us, but from learning to soften within.

We often expect life to be a string of calm, unbroken serenity… but that’s not reality. Irritation, change, and challenge are part of being human. What matters is how we meet them.

 Wellness Reflection:
This week, choose peace over power—let go of the need to control outcomes.
Choose friendship over force—meet yourself and others with gentleness.

The goal isn’t a life without waves; it’s learning how to float when they come. 🌊💜
