βοΈ Local Spotlight Feature

It's summer, and while we love BBQs and backyard parties,
there's one guest we can all do without: π¦mosquitoes!
Luckily, we have a local hero in the fight against these
pesky intrudersβMosquito Shield.
A Family Affair
Jennifer Kristen Schouten, the owner and operator of Mosquito Shield, along with her husband Dustin, started this business two years ago. It's a family and veteran-owned endeavor, rooted in the desire to spend more time together while addressing a very personal need. Their son is highly sensitive to mosquito bites, which made playing outside a challenge. Thanks to Mosquito Shield's treatments, he can now enjoy the outdoors without worry! . . . and so can your family.
Why Mosquito Shield?
Mosquito Shield isn't just another pest control company; it's a game-changer. Here's what makes them stand out:
1. Frequency: They visit more often than the competition, ensuring they tackle the mosquito life cycle at its roots.
2. Proprietary Natural Blend: This is a big one, especially for those concerned about chemical pesticides. Mosquito Shield uses a unique natural blend that significantly reduces or completely eliminates the need for insecticides. Their product not only blocks the scents mosquitoes use to find you but also includes concentrated scents that repel them. Itβs like putting up an invisible barrier that keeps these pests at bay.
3. Cost-Effective: Unlike many competitors who charge per treatment, Mosquito Shield offers a seasonal rate. This means more treatments over the mosquito season (April to October) at a lower overall cost.
4. Customer Focus: Their mission is to give you back your yard. This commitment is reflected in their excellent Google reviews, with customers raving about getting their outdoor spaces back.

Community Champions
Mosquito Shield is as committed to the community as they are to pest control. They're active members of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce, Northview Business Alliance, and supporters of Venture Academy, where their children attend school. You'll often find them at city events, farmerβs markets, and sponsoring local happenings like the Hill AFB Air Show. Jennifer also serves on the board of a local non-profit, showcasing the family's dedication to community involvement.

Hikers Face Snowy Challenges at Francis Peak Despite Warmer Weather
Farmington, Utah β The Farmington Trails community, dedicated to outdoor enthusiasts who share trail happenings, experiences, and pictures, has issued an update about the conditions at Francis Peak. According to recent posts, hikers attempting to reach the end of the snow-free road and Bountiful Peak are still encountering significant snow. Despite the warmer weather, the snow has yet to melt fully, creating challenging conditions for those hoping to explore these higher elevations.
For those planning to hike Francis Peak, it's advisable to prepare for snowy conditions and exercise caution. As the snow continues to melt, trail conditions are expected to improve, offering safer and more accessible hiking experiences in the near future.
