Three-Headed Dragon Mural Breathes New Life into Bountiful Landmark

Don’t be alarmed by the three-headed dragon perched on the corner of 100 North and 200 West — it’s not here to scorch the neighborhood, just to brighten it.

A once-quiet brick building in Bountiful is now wrapped in bold colors and fiery detail, thanks to a massive new mural painted by Viewmont High art teacher E.J. Keyes. Commissioned by the building’s owner, the mural features a playful but powerful dragon with a head peeking out on three sides. Keyes started painting as soon as school let out and plans to finish by June 11, using nearly 200 cans of spray paint along the way.

The building itself has had many lives — from a feed store to a skate park and even an auto shop — but this might be its most eye-catching chapter yet. Keyes, who skated there in his youth, says the project is a personal one and his biggest mural so far.

Without full scaffolding at first, he made do with a long painting pole and plenty of trial and error. He sketched the design on his tablet and built it up piece by piece, letting the dragon evolve along the way.

If you’re heading to the Chalk Art Festival, Keyes hopes you’ll swing by the mural too — it’s just a short detour, and well worth the trip. Locals are already stopping by to snap photos and admire the fantastical new addition to the neighborhood.

So if you're in the area, go say hi to the dragon — just don’t try to slay it! 🐉 

The Red Barn Thrift Store Is Redefining Secondhand Shopping in Utah

Nestled in Farmington, Utah, Red Barn Thrift is no ordinary secondhand store. Housed in a sleek, modern take on a classic barn and set against the Wasatch Mountains, the store’s striking exterior hints at the unique shopping experience inside. With outdoor displays under bright red tents and a welcoming vibe, it’s become a favorite stop for locals looking to score quality items without sacrificing style.

Inside, the space feels more like a boutique than a typical thrift shop. Wide aisles, high ceilings, and curated displays make browsing easy and enjoyable. The furniture section features modern and vintage pieces staged in cozy vignettes, while the housewares area dazzles with colorful glassware and retro kitchen tools. The clothing section is neatly organized by size and style, offering everything from basics to designer labels—all carefully inspected for quality.

With cleanliness, charm, and unbeatable prices, it’s no wonder this once-hidden gem is becoming one of Utah’s most beloved shopping destinations.

Fake Customer Service Call Nearly Costs Farmington Woman Thousands

A Farmington woman narrowly avoided losing nearly $5,000 in a sophisticated scam involving a fake Venmo customer service call. Kristen Fillerup had mistakenly sent a $275 Venmo payment to the wrong business during tax season. When she couldn’t retrieve the funds, she searched online for Venmo’s customer service and unknowingly connected with a scammer who impersonated a support agent.

The impersonator convinced Fillerup to download a remote access app, claiming it was to fix her payment issue. Once installed, he gained control of her phone and transferred funds between her bank accounts. Pretending to run a “test,” he used her phone to send $4,961 to her sister-in-law—without her knowledge. Fortunately, her sister-in-law refused to send the money back, realizing something was off. Fillerup acted quickly, shutting down her bank account before any funds could be withdrawn.

Initially, Venmo began demanding she repay the $4,961, but after a local news investigation and media inquiry, the company dropped its request. Cybersecurity experts warn consumers to be cautious when searching for customer service numbers online and to never download apps at the request of a support agent. Legitimate companies like Venmo will never ask for remote access to your device.
